For beginner dancers ready to learn the basics of ballet. Students will build off of the five positions, master plié variations and tendus, among other level-appropriate skills. Dancers will use barre, across the floor work, and centre floor exercises & combinations.

Lyrical 1
Lyrical is a dance form based on creative expression that tells a story. Lyrical is a fusion of ballet and jazz which combines one’s own expression along with technical skills. Students must be enrolled in a ballet class in order to be eligible for this class.

Pre-Pointe
Pre-pointe classes are offered to ballet students who are not yet on pointe to further develop and strengthen the muscles necessary to go en pointe. Pre-pointe classes stress correct alignment and correct classical ballet technique. Pre-pointe classes also allow teachers to assess readiness, offering an atmosphere for proper evaluation of important skills. This class will also be used for first year students en pointe. More advanced ballet/pointe students can also benefit from the extra technique training this class offers. Placement in this class should be approved by studio.

This free form, energetic, vibrant style of dance will expose dancers to a wide range of movements and styles! This multi level class is perfect for the beginner acrobat to more advanced students. Different levels will work within their ability to master skills in stretch, balance, and tumbling. Some of the skills we will cover include: backbends (bridges), cartwheels, aerials, walkovers, Arabians, splits, extensions, handsprings, headstands, elbow stands, chest stands, chest rolls, and MORE! Partnering and group balance/tricks will also be taught. Poi Spinning
This ancient Maori art form has become a very popular flow art and body balancing activity. Bring your own poi balls to class or borrow some from Karen. Everyone will work at their own skill level during the course. This is a fun way learn how to coordinate your body while keeping your arms limber and strong like the Maori warriors of New Zealand. Poi Twirling is usually done with a ball attached to the end of a string. There are many types of poi now. This class is recommended for ages 10 & up.

Students will develop their singing technique and learn how to work in an ensemble to create harmonies. Through work as solo, small group, and ensemble performers, they will develop a unique interpretation of a variety of songs and learn how to command the stage by drawing on theatre skills. Learn breathing techniques and breath management, increase vocal range, develop performing skills, learn basic music theory and site reading skills.
