Jazz Dance Pioneer Gus Giordano was the first to codify jazz movement. He, along with Jazz Dance Masters Frank Hatchett, Joe Tremaine, Luigi, and Matt Maddox, took what was popular movement for the screen and stage and created a dance art that is grounded with elements of jazz music: attack, accent, smooth, and explosive. This class explores these concepts while teaching the students proper placement, artistry, and performance qualities

Ballet 4 and Pointe 4 will be focusing on proper ballet technique to prepare a dancer for pointe and pre-pointe work. Proper alignment, strength, flexibility, agility, and balance along with building the dancers core muscles, foot strength, and ankle strength through repetitive ballet exercises that have been passed down from ballet masters such as Raymond Lukens, Jack Hertzog, Peter Schabel, and Jo Rowan. Vaganova technique is the basis for these classes, but Cechetti, RAD, and Balanchine exercises are sometimes used.

Special attention is paid to the required skills for floor and beam routines as well as giving the conditioning exercises to allow the gymnast to use their already honed musculature to complete the movements in a kinesthetically correct way, reducing injury and overuse stresses.
