Contemporary I

Contemporary is an extremely artistic style of dance. It is a fusion of ballet, jazz, and modern dance, and usually contains an emotional journey, or story. This class enhances the dancer’s skill set through focused dance moves and in-depth choreography. Attention-to-detail, discipline, and technique must be learned and demonstrated. Each dancer will experience improved self-esteem, and also discover their inner creator, while learning to understand body movement through music.

Ballet Basics Level II

Students of this class will be learning the positions of the arms and feet, as well as, learning basic ballet steps. Students will also be taught to travel from one corner of the room to the next by way of basic turns, jumps, and leaps. Students will learn the elements of pantomime and how to perform character dance. Students will also learn to count music and dance on the correct musical counts. By the end of the season, they will know the names of several ballet steps and positions and will maintain proper ballet etiquette in class. Each student will gain solid self-confidence, discipline, poise, good posture, and they’ll have a lot of fun at the same time. This class is a great way for children to enhance their discipline, body awareness, goal-setting, and artistic expression.

Acting(Dance Theater)

Introduction to acting and dance in the realms of the theater. This class introduces students to some of the fundamental skills and tools required for developing the acting process. Students will explore dance adaptations of many different scripts, plays, movies, and learn to create dancicals.
In addition, students learn how to behave as a professional actor as they demonstrate the focus and respect necessary in an acting class, in theatre, on stage, or on set.

One of the most popular and known styles, Jazz dance includes strength, flexibility and conditioning technique, and progressions including turns, kicks, and leaps. Students will learn fun and trendy dance steps that are used for all forms of dance. In this class, students will get a well-rounded variety of all dance steps. Dancers will learn choreography to popular and age-appropriate music of today along with vintage styles of jazz from the last decades.

With Urban Dance choreography, each class is treated like a standalone workshop. It is based on a piece of choreography rather than training a particular set of skills. You’ll pick up on certain techniques on the way, but most classes revolve around learning a piece of choreography. Choreography is heavily influenced by superstars like Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Justin Timberlake, backup dancers and music videos.
