Praise and Worship Dance

Description:

Worship dance is not just a genre of dance; it is part of a Christian life style. It is a calling. This class is for those passionate about growing in their understanding of worship and praise dance. Students will not only learn choreographed dances, but will be given the opportunity to develop their own prophetic/improvisational dance skills. Class time will consist of a warm up, stretching, dancing and a brief teaching portion in order to better understand why we do what we do. Children will learn that worship dance is primarily to worship God, but it is also a powerful tool in the kingdom of God that can change spiritual atmospheres and even release healing. Classes will also incorporate props such as scarves, streamers, flags, etc. All are welcome!

Tap - Students will learn Tap technique, rhythms, timing, leg/foot coordination, across the floor combinations, choreography, and musicality. Tap is a form of dance characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion.
Must have completed Levels 1 and 2 before progressing to this level.

Students will learn fusion of Ballet and Jazz technique, Lyrical. Expression from inner emotions is a primary factor in choreographing and interpreting this art form. Lyrical dance interprets music and words, showing the emotion of the contents of the music, dancing to the lyrics, rather than the tempo.
Must have completed Lyrical Levels 1 and 2 to progress to this level.

Students will focus on intermediate Ballet technique, proper body alignment, French terminology, coordination, discipline, improving balance, and musicality. This class will also focus on positions of the arms, direction of the body and increased movement vocabulary, as well as strengthening.
