Ballet I & II
Students will learn the foundation of ballet, terminology, body placement and musicality. The groundwork of ballet is set at the barre where students will learn placement of their feet, bodies, and arms. Combinations will progress to the center where components of balance and coordination are attained. Beginning Ballet is suitable for students in 2nd-7th grades who have little to no prior ballet experience or for students who have taken 1-2 years of Kinder Ballet at Halestone and are entering 2nd grade in the fall. Grades 2-7; ages 7-14.

Intro to Dance Technique: Modern & Tap
Intro to Dance Technique classes allow students to take an introduction to more than one style in the same year-long class. Designed specifically for rising 2nd and 3rd graders students will be allowed freedom and choice by being included in dance-making, improvisation, and composition exercises. At the same time they will be introduced to the more structured elements of a technique class: specific warm-up routines, across the floor, and center combinations. Grades 2-3. Ages 7-9.

Advanced Seminar in Dance Technique: Modern
Designed for serious dancers at the high school level, seminar classes build on theory developed in Dance Lab classes. Seminar classes are based on somatic principles and include the study of modern dance/contemporary technique, applied theory, improvisation, and composition. Advanced Seminar in Modern Dance is the continuation of our Dance Lab class progression and suitable for high school aged dancers.

Kinder Ballet (1st Grade)
Kinder Ballet for 1st graders will expand on the concepts and curriculum of our Kinder Ballet for kindergartners class. Dancers will learn new movement patterns, explore qualities of nonverbal expression, and organize movement into an aesthetic experience. We will continue using imagery and props to broaden and develop students' artistry. Throughout the year students will learn and practice the Royal Academy of Ballet technique at the primary level. Classes will explore and expand movement possibilities and skills. Grade: 1st grade. Age: 6 years old.

Kinder Ballet (Kindergarten)
***Sara's Saturday Kinder Ballet class should take this class in the fall*** Kinder Ballet for kindergartners will expand on the concepts and curriculum of our Kinder Ballet I & II classes for 3s and 4s. Dancers will learn new movement patterns, explore qualities of nonverbal expression, and organize movement into an aesthetic experience. We will continue using imagery and props to broaden and develop students' artistry. Throughout the year students will learn and practice the Royal Academy of Ballet technique at the preprimary level. Classes will explore and expand movement possibilities and skills. Grades: Kindergarten. Age: 5 year olds. **Students who are not yet 5 but have taken class with Ms. Sara before are welcome to join this class.**

Tap I
This class will focus on the fundamentals of tap. We will start with the basics and build up from there. Classes will begin in the center with a warm- up, then go across the floor working on specific steps. We will build up our skills and be able to work on combinations and students will be able to create their own steps and sounds. Students will be encouraged to develop their own style throughout the techniques they will learn and will be able to let loose and have fun through improvisation structures. Grades 4-8. Ages 9-13.

Clogging Workshop
A class open to students ages 10 and up with prior clogging experience, Clogging Workshop is a time for students to explore group choreography and practice learning how to lead the group. Students will get chances to make up their own clogging combinations and teach them to their peers. Students should be prepared to work hard and come to class with enthusiasm. Students will start with a warm up which focuses on advanced technique. The rest of the class will be dedicated to learning combinations and dances. Ages: 10 and up with prior clogging experience.

Creative Movement (Kindergarten & 1st)
Creative Movement for Kindergarten and 1st Graders builds on the concepts introduced in Creative Movement for 3s and 4s. Classes still focus on creative movement, basic body control, and the joy of moving, while also emphasizing concepts central to modern dance.  The students will be guided towards the experience of a more technical modern dance class, while still allowed the freedom needed at this age. This class strengthens coordination and cognitive skills in a positive atmosphere. Grades K-1. Ages 5-6

Jazz I
In this class we will be exploring classical jazz. We will be learning jazz techniques which are all very high energy and allow for individual expression. Class will begin with a warm up and focus on combinations to learn how to isolate the body and build stamina. Using across the floor exercises to really drill in the different styles, this class will be a great way to learn rhythm and movement! Grades 4-8. Ages 9-13.

Tap II
This class will build on from the fundamentals steps covered in Tap I. Students can expect to learn a little history too, so they can understand where this form of dance and sound came from! Going through our warmups and across the floor exercises we will expand on our skill sets. As students progress through their steps and sounds, they will be able to move forward to increasingly more complex and intricate combinations. Students will be asked to create their own small sets of sounds and eventually create their own small combinations. Grades 8-12. Ages 13-18.

Jazz II
This class will be a traditional high energy jazz class. We will be reviewing the foundations of jazz, while also getting into different characters. We will start in the center for a warm up and small body conditioning, move across the floor, and end class with a combination. Students will be asked to create some of their own compositions, and perform with and for others in the class. There will be many different styles of jazz dance we will be learning about throughout the course of this class, which will allow students to be able to create their own stylized combinations. Grades 8-12. Ages 13-18.

Classes will blend the concepts of ballet with creative movement using both classical and popular age appropriate music to learn basic skills and engage in dramatic play. In a structured environment children will begin to recognize their own individuality and body mobility. Classes will foster a love of movement from learning basic ballet steps, translating music to movement, exploring how bodies can move in space and using imagery and props in creatively choreographed dance games. Through dance-play students will explore dance technique, practice large and fine motor movement skills and develop a great variety of movement qualities as we work toward acquiring a lifelong love of dance. Age: 4 years.

Class will include an interactive story-time, song and dance designed to introduce dance concepts at their most basic, and a guided, contemplative exploration. This class is ideal for your youngest mover and is designed for both caregiver and child to dance together. Ages: 12 months - 2.5 years.

Combining kinesthetic exploration through touch, balance, texture, and sound we will explore the dance studio and the world of dance. This class is ideal for your youngest mover, or for a slightly older child that needs the support of having a caregiver in the room. This class is designed for both caregiver and child to dance together, however if your child is 2 1/2 or older they may attend on their own. Ages: 2 - 3 years.
