Open Studio II - Change Makers
Building on experiences with contemporary technique in Open Studio 1, this is a good choice for young artists who want further opportunities to develop a creative mindset and have fun in the process. Students will continue to build strength and performance confidence as they explore various approaches to movement with contemporary choreographers. They will learn how to brainstorm with embodied and dramatic writing, work together to orchestrate challenging stage patterns, practice theatrical presence, and complement their creative ideas with stage objects and costumes. For Fall and Spring concerts, students will work with a few guest musicians in class, and design their own 'threads' and sets from recycled / upcycled materials.

Advanced Seminar
This class focuses on the foundations of contemporary dance, particularly Cunningham technique. Students will work on balance, flexibility, and spatial awareness, as well as differentiating movement quality. In addition to learning movement, students will also have the opportunity to collaborate and create movement together. This class utilizes a “Natural Body Development” approach, through integrating breath-work with weight and gravity shifting. This movement class focus is to use philosophies of internal and external energies and how the two are mutually generating the physical body. We also plan to be exploring different body systems and movement qualities as instruments in the development of an expanded movement repertoire. This class will use an assortment of media elements, including dance, painting, sound, theater and video.
Advanced Seminar is designed for high-school students.
