Pointe 2
Dancing on pointe is considered to be a very advanced ballet skill and should only be done under strict supervision, as pointe work can be dangerous if attempted too early or with poor instruction. Most children do not have sufficient bone structure and development or muscular strength to allow a safe inclusion of pointe work until they are at least 11 years old. Many girls strongly anticipate their desire to wear pointe shoes but it is imperative that they remain patient and diligent in their work if they want to eventually go en pointe.
Dancers in ballet level 6 and up may dance en pointe at BDTS upon passing a rigorous pointe eligibility test before beginning pointe work.

Drawing from yoga, ballet and Pilates, we will work on your core strength, while also working on deep breathing and deep stretching to increase your energy and flexibility. We will be using light ankle weights- 5lbs total, a foam roller, yoga matt and 2 lacrosse balls ( for myofacial release to decrease pain and increase flexibility). Please purchase these items, label them with your name, and bring them to all classes, as we will not be able to share items.

Ballet 2 students are expected to have completed at least 1 recent year of ballet (not including Pre-Ballet) and requires teacher recommendation. This class introduces young movers to modern dance, and prepares students to be embodied movers in future modern, ballet, jazz or other dance classes. We will explore the dance concepts of energy, time, and space through improvisation, skill-building exercises, and basic modern and ballet steps and positions.
