This is for the more serious, established actor. Students in this class should have representation or have previously taken Acting for TV/Film. Method acting with a focus on Meisner and Stanislavski techniques will be explored. Students are filmed every class and will learn how to critique themselves in a positive way in order to improve their technique for auditions and performances. Students will continue to work on monologues and will get in-depth feedback on their scenes performed in class.

Introduction to Acting for TV/Film
Have you ever considered working in the TV/Film industry? Getting an agent? Then this is the class for you. Students will learn the difference between theatre and acting for the camera. Primary focus is on method acting and learning the basics of Meisner and Stanislavski technique. Students will work on: commercials, scene study, monologues, hosting, newscasting...all on camera. Students are filmed every class so they may see their work. This course also covers the business side of acting: how to get an agent, resumes, headshots, unions and more.

Pointe 1
Dancing on pointe is considered to be a very advanced ballet skill and should only be done under strict supervision, as pointe work can be dangerous if attempted too early or with poor instruction. Most children do not have sufficient bone structure and development or muscular strength to allow a safe inclusion of pointe work until they are at least 11 years old. Many girls strongly anticipate their desire to wear pointe shoes but it is imperative that they remain patient and diligent in their work if they want to eventually go en pointe.
Girls in ballet level 6 and up may dance en pointe at BDTS upon passing a rigorous pointe eligibility test before beginning pointe work.

Students who choose to participate in the Conservatory division classes are making a commitment to a more serious course of study. These classes require excellent attendance, classroom etiquette and a clear demonstration of motivation and participation. Classes are longer and require attendance three days a week. Participation in the school’s performance of the Nutcracker and the Spring concert is expected.

Teen classes are for beginning students age 10 and older who may want to explore a new style of dance, or have no dance experience at all! Teen classes are designed so that students can learn with their peers without the difficulties of sharing a class with much younger students. Teen Division students often audition to be placed into a Conservatory level after mastering their fundamentals.
