Studying ballet will promote flexibility and muscular strength while emphasizing correct body placement. Students will also be instructed in jazz a warm-up with stretching, isolations, strengthening exercises, and across the floor exercises including turns and leaps. This class typically ends with a combination that is usually fast-paced and rhythmically based. Our classes use family-friendly music and modest dance moves to allow your child to experience this exciting dance form in a God-glorifying environment. Contemporary IV
Contemporary classes combine elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers connect the mind and the body through fluid and expressive dance movements. Contemporary dance stresses versatility and improvisation, unlike the strict, structured nature of ballet. Contemporary dancers focus on floorwork, using gravity to pull them down to the floor. There is less emphasis placed on turn-out and verticality and more work with lateral and off-center torso movements, and an openness to emotional interpretation and expression. Classes cover movement combinations, center exercises, and elements of floor work, while exploring the relationship of the body to gravity and space. Contemporary dance promotes strength, flexibility and coordination. As with all our classes, our curriculum integrates Christian principles and values as we share the joy of the Lord through the art of dance. OPEN DIVISION Worship
Teen & Adult Worship Dance classes allow the student’s exploration worship through movement. NO dance experience necessary. Drop in rate of $10 per class. Spring Production participation is optional. Christian principles are fully integrated into this class as we teach students to make an intentional connection between faith and movement and to use dance as a form of worship. Students will be guided through various worship movement exercises that encourage creative expression, embodied prayer, and collaboration among dancers. Students may also be instructed in the use of props, such as scarves and ribbons. Class Length: 60 min Class Requirements: Age 14+. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. Dress Code: Modest, comfortable clothes in which you can move easily. No bare legs or midriffs. Socks or bare feet.

Production Rehearsal & Worship
Production Rehearsal & Worship classes continue to expand students’ formal study of dance by allowing them to participate in a collaborative production. This rehearsal must be taken in combination with a ballet class. THIS REHEARSAL IS REQUIRED FOR GUIDANCE, SHINE AND EMERGE DANCE COMPANIES IN THE FALL. THIS REHEARSAL IS REQUIRED FOR BALLET LEVEL 3,4,5,6 IN THE SPRING. Class Length: 1 hour Class Requirements: Age 10+. Prerequisite Ballet III. Musical theater dance is the study of Broadway dance and dance styles. Whether you are new to dance or experienced, our Open Division Musical Theater Dance will introduce you to dance skills necessary for performing in musical theater productions. Ballet II classes expand students’ formal study of classical ballet which is foundational for all dance training. Intermediate ballet students will be instructed in barre work, centre floor work, and traveling steps in order to develop the essential techniques of balance, body control, and muscle memory. Ballet also promotes flexibility and muscular strength while emphasizing correct body placement. As with all our classes, our Ballet curriculum integrates Christian principles and values as we share the joy of the Lord through the art of dance. Class Length: 60 min Class Requirements: Age 9-11. Placement class required. Prerequisite Ballet I or Instructor permission. 2 dance classes per week required (can be 2 ballet classes or 1 ballet class and 1 jazz class). Dress Code: Black leotard, pink tights, and pink leather or canvas split-sole ballet slippers are required. Hair in bun.

Jazz II classes are a fusion of ballet and modern dance and can take on many different styles such as contemporary, lyrical, percussive, broadway, and pop. It is a great technique to discover the joy of moving. Students warm-up with stretching, isolations, strengthening exercises, and across the floor exercises including turns and leaps. This class ends with a combination that is usually fast-paced and rhythmically based. Our jazz classes use family-friendly music and modest dance moves to allow your child to experience this exciting dance form in a God-glorifying environment. As with all our classes, our Jazz curriculum integrates Christian principles and values as we share the joy of the Lord through the art of dance. Class Length: 60 min Class Requirements: Age 11+. Dress Code: Black leotard, pink/tan convertible tights, and tan pull on jazz are required. Hair in bun.

Prerequisite Ballet II or Instructor permission. 2 ballet classes per week required for Level III, 3 ballet classes per week required for Level IV, and classes in other techniques strongly recommended. Dress Code: Black leotard, pink tights, and pink leather or canvas split-sole ballet slippers are required. Hair in bun.
