An exciting introduction to Jazz Dance (kicks, leaps, turns and more!) combined with Acrobatics. A great class for those who love to dance and would like it to include cartwheels/bridges etc. for that extra bit of excitement.

Students will improve flexibility, strength, dance technique. Whilst also building strong foundations for acrobatics.

Tap is a brilliant dance style to have under your belt - particularly if you may wish to pursue musical theatre in the future.

Mini Improvers Acro and Jazz (Year 3 to 4)
Improving your acro and dance technique - for students in school years 3 to 4. Moves learned include cartwheels, splits, bridges and beginning to work on walkovers. You will also learn the foundations of leaps and turns.

If you cannot yet cartwheel/hold a bridge, you may wish to do a term with the beginner class alongside taking this one in order to catch up.

Monday Stretch and Conditioning Class
All competitive students must take at least one stretch and conditioning class per week - they are recommended for all MV students as they ensure dancers have a strong body with good facility for all genres of dance/acrobatics and musical theatre.

An invitational class for juniors. Those in a competition dance team must attend this class. It's highly recommended for all those in performance teams too.

Acro for our tiny students in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 to learn the foundations of Acrobatic Dance. We will always have an assistant in this class. to help with trips to the bathroom and anything else children may need during the class at this age.

For students in year 3 and 4 to learn acro dance. A combination of gymnastic and dance moves. Students will become stronger, more flexible, have a lot of fun - and be invited to perform in MV Academy shows!

If students haven't done any form of dance or gymnastics before - it's recommended they enrol in the beginners class.

Students in the improver class should already have a strong cartwheel, bridge and handstand. They should be able to walk down a mat in bridge and be working on their kickovers/walkovers and starting to think about aerials. They also have a good level of flexibility from their previous training.

For MV Students who take acrobatic classes and would like to begin attending competitions this year. For those ages 7-11 who had a good level of gymnastics and dance technique.

Students are expected to demonstrate walkovers, splits, handstands, one handed cartwheels and be working towards confident ariels on the ground.

Senior invitational technique (part 2)
Technique class for senior competitive students. This class is focused on improve the technique required at competition - advanced turns, leaps, kicks, tricks etc. whilst also maintaining the strength and flexibility needed to compete as a senior.

These two classes are compulsory for those who wish to compete, unless they are in their GCSE/A level exam terms.

Beginner Ballet RAD Pre-Primary (Reception/Year 1/Year 2)
A beautiful introduction to Ballet with our RAD teacher Hannah. She will guide you through your first steps into the dance and ballet world. A wonderful foundation for many future styles. Students who maintain good focus and attendance may be invited to take their RAD examinations.

This class is suitable for those in school years reception and year 1. It will also be the most suitable for those in year 2 who haven't done any ballet yet.

Mini Lyrical and Contemporary (Year 2-4)
Lyrical dance combines techniques from jazz and ballet to create smooth and flowing routines which often depicts the story told by the lyrics. A beautiful style that will improve posture, strength and story telling ability.

Contemporary is a creative style of dance and students will explore story telling through movement as well as the beginnings of techniques like Cunningham and Graham.

Please check your ballet level with our principal if taking ballet for the first time.

A fun upbeat style of dance - most likely to be seen in west end shows or musicals. Students work on flexibility, strength, kicks, leaps, turns and developing a strong jazz style in their movement.

A great class to support students with a keen interest in musical theatre and would like to ensure their dance doesn't hold them back when it comes to show choreography and routines.

Junior Musical Theatre Production (Year 4-6)
Working towards a full scale production! With microphones, costumes, props, choreography, understudies and more. We aim to give our students a professional experience that allows them to shine on stage whilst learning a huge amount in the process. Students will become more confident, independent and skilled on stage.

Many of our students who took part in these junior musicals have gone on to work professionally... and they weren't all in leading roles from day one at MV. Plenty started off with smaller roles or in the ensemble, working their way upwards over the years.

Production classes (full length musicals) will involve a show fee to cover microphone hire, costume purchase or hire, chaperones at the theatre and extra theatre rehearsals. Please budget for £60 to cover the above due one month before the production.

Intermediate Foundation RAD Ballet
The first of RADs vocational grades, this class requires dedication and work at home to be able to take the examination. Vocational grades are aimed at those with a keen interest in and commitment to dance. It includes a small amount of Pointe work. It is followed by RAD Intermediate which results in UCAS points and allows students to train to teach ballet when they're older if they wish.


There is a £25 registration fee added to the cost because this class runs for 1 hour per week instead of the standard 45 minute class.

Students cannot decide themselves to get pointe shoes, they must be invited by a teacher who believes their technique is strong enough and their body is strong enough - to avoid injury and unsafe practise.

For advanced Ballet students who have reached this grade in the RAD work. A vocational grade that gives students UCAS points and the option to train to teach RAD Ballet.

Please note - as this class runs for an hour, and not the standard 45 minutes, a £25 fee would usually be added, however it is assumed the students in this class also take Pointe class (which is 30 minutes) so the time/price difference balances out.

By invitation or audition only, for our students who are considering auditioning for college at 6th form or university level and would like to begin their preparations.

Classes will include, how to prepare your monologues, song choices, interview technique and presentation. They will also include mock auditions in a variety of styles.

This class will also put together short performance pieces for shows/concerts. This can be done on a flexible basis for those sitting examinations, they will be able to opt in/out depending on commitments.

This class is aimed at our advanced students - to develop their ballet free work and pick up skills. It will strengthen their overall technique and also help those applying to further training strengthen their ballet skills. A focused class for the dedicated dancer.

It will be taught by Serena/Keeleigh.

All dancers require ballet shoes for this class and their hair in a neat bun.

Class is aimed at our older students, but younger students who are determined to focus and improve their ballet skills are welcome to join in.
