Pre-Ballet I is ideally suited for the young dancer who has completed Little Tutus for at least one year or who is beginning ballet training at the age of 4-5 years old. In Pre-Ballet I, dancers are introduced to the love of Ballet and story-telling through the art of dance. Dancers will learn basic French terminology as well as introductory positions of the arms and feet. Pre-Ballet I introduces musicality, musical interpretation and individual artistic expression and begins a lifelong love of dance. Ballet II - Two Days/Week MON/WED 3:30-4:30pm Ballet Technique Ballet II is for the young dancer who has been invited to join Ballet II upon completion of Ballet I. Students often train at this level for at least two years before progressing to Ballet III. Enrolled dancers must have completed one-two years of Ballet I and have received a recommendation from the instructor. Ballet II is a structured and imaginative ballet class that includes both barre and center floor exercises appropriate and safe for the age and level. Spanish Dance THURS
Spanish Dance class focuses on the dance form called Clásico Español, a form of Spanish dance based on the principles of Classical Ballet. Students will begin to learn the classical version of the Sevillanas, a dance which is traditionally performed each year at the spring fairs in Andalucía. This class is highly recommended for dancers in our Ballet Training Program levels III and up. Spanish Dance is open to dancers with at least two years of recent, serious dance training and may be repeated several times as there is much to learn. Teen/Rec Ballet SAT
Teen Ballet Ballet Teen is designed for the dancer who is starting ballet class after the 5th grade. Previous ballet training is helpful, although not required to begin. Typically dancers will stay in this class for at least two years to gain the full benefit of the syllabus. Dancers wishing to gain more experience are encouraged to participate in other Ballet I classes or attend Adult Beginning Ballet (see IAD's Adult/Teen schedule). Ballet Teen utilizes the first and second level of our ballet training syllabus at IAD. Dancers participate in the full structure of ballet class including barre work, center work and across the floor combinations. Technique, form, musicality, musical interpretation and artistic expression are paramount to all IAD's training programs.
