Welcome to the Dance Teacher Assistant Program! All assistants must complete this asynchronous online course prior to becoming a dance teacher assistant. After you finish this course, we will have you complete 4 classes of in-studio training. You can schedule the days/times that you are available to assist by emailing us with your preferences. In Tap Elements, the dancers will build on their knowledge of tap dance steps, adding new vocabulary as they are developmentally ready. They will work on more intricate steps as well as the difference between even and swing rhythms, with a focus on musicality. They learn how one tap step builds on the next and they will practice coordinating arm movements with their steps. The dancers will learn to put these skills together into sequences and patterns, through short routines and choreography combos. They will continue to use imaginative concepts and games to increase learning.

In Jazz Elements, the dancers will build on their knowledge of jazz
dance steps, adding new vocabulary as they are developmentally ready. They will work on quick weight-changes and direction-changes,as well as alternating feet with their steps. They learn correct body posture while executing jumps and other elevations, and they will practice coordinating arm movements with their steps. The dancers will learn to put these skills together into sequences and patterns, through short routines and choreography combos. They will continue to use imaginative concepts and games to increase learning. Bust-A-Move classes will incorporate bite-sized versions of hip hop & breakdance skills.

On My Own Creative Dance & Tap
In this class, your dancer will take his or her first step into independent dance! We'll work on basic ballet & tap dance vocabulary, as well as important school skills, like listening, taking turns, and problem-solving. They will make progress in motor skills like jumping, hopping, and balancing too! Each class will be based around an imaginative theme, and the dancers will play-pretend while learning.

Dancers stay in this level for a full school year.

This class uses imaginative concepts, books, and themes to increase learning.

Snapdragon Dance Company-Accelerations 1 Level
Our dance companies consist of enthusiastic and passionate students who love to dance and are looking for more opportunities to perform. All levels of our dance company attend dance competitions, although our focus is always on the journey and progress that our dancers make. Our dance companies also perform at non-competitive events, as well as attend dance conventions and master classes when possible.
The companies are open to all enthusiastic and passionate dancers with prior dance experience, who will be in K through 12th grade for the 2022-2023 school year. We are looking for dancers who are focused, committed, kind to others, and who are interested in growing as performers and dance artists.

Hip Hop Explorations
Hip Hop Explorations will introduce the students to the facets of dance
that evolved from hip hop culture and hip hop music. The class will use technique, combos, and choreography to explore the many styles and skills that fall under the hip hop umbrella.

Jazz Accelerations 2-3
In Jazz/Contemporary Accelerations, the dancers will work on leveling-up all of the skills they already know, through clarity of shape and line, and control. The class will have a large focus on understanding the “how and why” behind jazz technique. They will broaden their understanding of the mechanics of the technique needed to execute multiple clean turns, higher jumps and more intricate leaps, and they will learn new and more difficult steps as they are developmentally ready. The class will include warm-ups, stretching, strength-building, center work, traveling combinations, and choreography.

On My Own Creative Dance & Tap
In this class, your dancer will take his or her first step into independent dance! We'll work on basic ballet & tap dance vocabulary, as well as important school skills, like listening, taking turns, and problem-solving. They will make progress in motor skills like jumping, hopping, and balancing too! Each class will be based around an imaginative theme, and the dancers will play-pretend while learning.

Dancers stay in this level for a full school year.

In Tap Fundamentals, the dancers will begin to learn basic tap dance steps, to fun upbeat & kid-friendly music. They will work understanding how each part of their tap shoe makes distinct and different sounds, and they will work on different rhythmic patterns and tempos. They will work on transferring weight, traveling around while making rhythms, and identifying their right and left. The dancers will learn to put these skills together into sequences and patterns, through short routines and choreography combos. This class uses imaginative concepts and movement games to increase learning.

In Ballet Fundamentals, the dancers will learn the fundamentals of ballet technique, in the ways that are age-appropriate, developmentally- appropriate and engaging! They will be introduced to the ballet steps that all ballet vocabulary is built upon, including: exploring the use of turn-out, maintaining balance; learning the dance way to jump, hop, slide, and gallop; and how to use their bodies to make different shapes and lines. This class uses imaginative concepts, books, and themes to increase learning.

They will continue to use imaginative concepts and games to increase learning. Bust-A-Move classes will incorporate bite-sized versions of hip hop & breakdance skills.

Ballet Elements
In Ballet Elements, the dancers will be introduced to the more formal structure of ballet class. They will begin to work on ballet skills at the barre, and flexibility, strength, balance, and control. They will learn the French words for many ballet terms. They will link their steps together into memory-building combinations and routines, and will continue to use imaginative imagery and games to push their learning forward. The dancers will explore using their emotions and the lyrics in the music, or in a choreographer’s story, to fuel their movement. Ballet required for lyrical.

In this 3-day camp, your dancer will explore jazz/hip-hop, ballet/lyrical, and tap -- all with a cute winter-y gingerbread theme! There will be dancing, movement games, cookie-inspired crafts & more! The dancers will work on new warm-ups and combos each day, so campers may sign up for the full camp (best value!) or for single days.

Dancers may wear comfy clothes or dance clothes. Dancers shoes are recommended, but bare feet are also ok.

This event will be an open format, with freestyle dancing to kid-friendly favorites, an open dance obstacle course, crafts, & more.

For the drop-off option - register each of your children as their own separate enrollment.
