Tap 3/4 (Int/Adv)
This class is for the student who wants to further his or her tap skills and knowledge. We cover a general knowledge of tap history and famous tap dancers as well as proper technique for Time Steps, Wings, Paddle & Roll, Waltz Clog and various other steps. Students will also learn how to do simple improvisation and work on rhythm and timing.

Jazz Tech (Beg/Int)
Jazz Technique is a lively class that builds a foundation for integration into Jazz. Students will be introduced to terminology, elements, understanding the speed at which jazz moves and learn the body alignment necessary to perform the elements and stretches in jazz. This class will teach fundamentals of classic jazz including the development of body alignment, coordination, balance and rhythmic awareness.

This half-hour class focuses on the athletic side of dance—Improving flexibility, tricks, and fitness. Because the curriculum caters to each student and their individual goals, this class is beneficial for all levels and performers.

Adult Tap (Beg/Int/Adv)
Designed for adults with none, little or tons of previous experience in the chosen discipline. Students learn and practice basic dance techniques, terminology, and phrases and patterns. This class is easy going and adults can progress at their own pace and ask plenty of questions along the way!

Acting 1 (Beg/Int)
This is a beginning-level acting class for students looking to learn the after-basics of their acting and audition training. Students delve into a variety of new acting styles and techniques in order to workshop audition monologues and songs into polished, audition-ready performances. This is a great class for students preparing auditions for shows, school drama programs, community theatre, etc, or looking to gain more knowledge of how acting works and the steps that take you to becoming a better actor on the stage!

Theatre Artistry (Beg-Adv)
In this class, students work one-on-one with directors to learn the many elements of theatre design including props, costumes, lighting design and operation, sound, sets and building, stage management, etc. Students will be guided through the process of making their designs a reality, and many hands-on tech opportunities are made available through this class. For example, the Theatre Artistry class is in charge of all technical design for the Encore class productions.

Acting 2 (Int/Adv)
This class gives a focused look at the professional preparation of acting. We cover a wide variety of topics from script analysis, to character analysis, to auditions, headshots, equity membership, etc. We will also workshop monologues to build a well-rounded portfolio of polished audition pieces, so students will be expected to put in time outside of class! This is a great class for students considering post-graduate education, community theatre auditions, or a career in acting.

Mommy and Me
In this class, infants, toddlers, and preschoolers along with their parents or caregivers join together as a musical community. Activities include playing rhythm instruments, having fun with finger plays, and singing and dancing to music of different meters and tonalities.

Tiny Triples
In this class your child will focus on the beginning stages of becoming a triple threat! Singing, dancing, and acting are all very important things in theatre and we’re here to make sure they start it off right! This 45 minute class will be divided into three sections to make sure the right amount of time is spent on each important skill all while still having a great time!

Jumps, Leaps, and Turns (Int/Adv)
This is a technique class that is dedicating to learning the proper technique and execution of the most useful movements such as, pirouettes, leaps and kicks and much more. Stretching as well as strengthening is also combined to improve each individuals strength and power behind all of their movement. Take this class to learn new dance skills or improve previous knowledge and help gain abilities for your other dance classes!

This class gives an entry-level look at the fundamentals theatre and performance with a focus in acting methods and character creation. This class uses interactive topics like auditions, costumes, improvisation, lighting design, overcoming stage fright, physicality, stage combat, and more!

Jazz Funk
Jazz Funk, also called Street Jazz, borrows a lot of movement from other dance styles. From ballet-modern-hip hop- to lyrical, jazz funk incorporates little bits and pieces of other dance genres and wraps into a funky style that is both fun and expressive!

Sound Revolution
Sound Revolution is our elementary-high school-age vocal and dance performance group. Students perform songs from a variety of genres covering a huge range of artists. They also receive training in music theory and aural perception as well as vocal and dance technique. Most importantly, students learn elements of acting and expression, skills necessary to become not just performers, but true artists.

Contemporary Lyrical
Contemporary Lyrical is a fluid form of dance performed to ballads and slower contemporary music. The dancer is taught to interpret movement with feeling, motion, style and grace. They will learn to tell a story or create the picture of the song. This style combines the fluid beauty of ballet with the more sharp moves in jazz.

Off The Cuff
AYT’s comedy improv troupe providing high-energy, interactive, and family-friendly shows to entertain audiences of all-ages. Students learn the fundamentals of improvisation in this class, including the basic tools, rules, and philosophy of improv and comedy…through games, drills, and simple scenes with a uniquely character-based “Groundlings” inspired approach.

Adult Combo
Geared for young-middle age adults with little to some dance experience who want to brush up on skills, prepare for auditions and/or just want to get great conditioning, and learn fun choreography. Each class will focus on different dance styles including jazz, music theatre, contemporary, ballet, hip hop, cultural and more, taught with varying skills levels!

Ballet 1/2
In this class, students learn the basics and background of ballet. At the start of every class, we work on stretching and flexibility. Then we learn technique at the barre, technique across the floor, and combos in the center. We also cover correct ballet terms and vocabulary and the corresponding movements in order to prepare our students for future auditions. This class feeds into the more advanced classes like Ballet 3/4.

Jazz 2/3 (Int/Adv)
Jazz 2/3 builds on the fundamentals learned in Jazz Technique, while expanding and developing musicality and phrasing. Students will add skills ranging from contractions to triple step, to pas de bouree pivoting, to isolations, to double pirouettes and much, much more.

Ballet 2/3 (Int/Adv)
This class builds off Ballet 1/2. Students will be pushed even further in technique and better familiarize themselves with vocabulary that is often used in dance calls. Students will also learn to quickly retain choreography, be more confident in turns and leaps, explore character development and expression through movement, and explore any other needed areas of improvement.

Throughout the class, students learn the tap basics and how to articulate their feet. They will also learn new steps throughout the semester and small combos to test their knowledge of the steps. All students perform in the Spring Showcase.

Broadway Rep (Int/Adv)
This class prepares students for auditions by helping them to develop the skill of picking up choreography quickly. Broadway Rep also includes stretch and strength, basic dance technique, fun combos, new combos every week, and a wide variety of dance styles. This class is great for students who want to further their dance knowledge and pick up new skills and techniques to help them in future auditions.

Voice Tech (Beg/Int)
This is a great introduction to the fundamentals of vocal production with an emphasis on breathing techniques, tone production, diction, and performance through group/solo singing. Vocal Tech also includes elements of stage presence, music theory, rhythms, dynamics, reading sheet music, and a basic recognition of pitches and intervals (aural perception.) During this course, the students will not only work on group techniques such as balance and blend, but they will also work on individual solos.

This class covers the basics of becoming a “triple threat” (acting, dancing, and singing.) Students will learn coordination, proper singing technique, and fundamental acting skills presented in a fun and easy learning environment. By taking this class, students will gain a solid foundation not only to own the stage as a triple threat, but to build confidence and creativity as well.
