We strongly recommend the study of ballet - including for students who study jazz and lyrical. It is like the "weight lifting" of many other genres. Students learn proper alignment and technique that apply to a lot of types of dance. Of course, taking ballet class for the love of ballet is highly encouraged as well!
This class is for older dancers with extensive ballet training, including pointe work.

Jazz is a stylized genre that technically comes from African ritual and celebratory dances, but has morphed through the jazz age (Lindy, Swing dancing) and into Broadway styles. It’s foundation is built on ballet principles, but currently most often performed to pop music. It’s a great way to work on a classical foundation while learning upbeat, fun routines.
This class is for older dancers with many years of jazz training.

Lyrical (formerly known as lyrical jazz) is a style that is slower, more "flowy," and expressive than classical jazz, but still is grounded in ballet technique. Young dancers appreciate the opportunity to theatrically emote through their dancing, lyrical allows dancers to feel emotions and dramatic aspects of different songs and movements. While not required, concurrent or previous enrollment in ballet would be very helpful in mastering lyrical movements.
This class is for younger dancers with little to no lyrical experience.

Musical theatre class is a fun way to learn about some Broadway musicals, work on dance for theatre and incorporate some acting into your repertoire. This is open to any interested dancers (over age 5 recommended), including dancers looking for help with future theatre auditions.

Pointe dancers use special shoes with hardened "boxes" around the toes. Young dancers aspiring to start pointe work in the future should start ballet training now! A dancer's strength and mastery of ballet technique is evaluated before she may enroll in a pointe class.
Pointe dancers are required to take 2 ballet classes a week.
Registration with permission only.

Acro (Acrobatics) is not-quite tumbling and not-quite contortion. It’s a genre that encompasses elements of both. Acro is all about flexibility and "tricks" - chin stands, cartwheels, aerials - and incorporating them into dance choreography. It’s a great class on its own or to augment other classes and techniques.
Advanced Acro 1 is for older dancers with some experience. Older dancers who are new to acro are welcome to enroll in this class as well. It is a very individualized progression of skills.

Hip hop is an important dance style, but did not originate with the inappropriate and overly mature moves we see in videos, etc. today. Miss Kenna is an AIM alumni. Her goal is to create a fun and healthy environment for the dancers.
This class is for young dancers with little or no hip hop experience.

Musical Theatre for Experienced Dancers
Musical theatre is a form of theatrical performance that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting and dance. Dancers will learn how to entertain while still using their proper technique. We will only be working on the dance portion of musical theatre. Taking a jazz class is not required, but is recommended when taking musical theatre class.
This class is for dancers with few to many years of dance experience.

Creative Movement is a class where toddlers are able to move independently and use their motor skills. We use props to stimulate the little ones' brains and to work on coordination.
