Most classes are priced based on the length of all the classes a student enrolls in. The longer that length of time, the lower the cost per minute. The price is a monthly charge that does not change based on the number of times a class runs that month.

30 min = $35
45 min = $45
60 min = $55
90 min = $70
120 min = $80

Those new to Irish dance will start in an Intro A or Tiny Toes class based on your age. This will teach you the basic terminology and techniques. Hard/Heavy/Jig shoes are introduced in Intro B. You need to understand the basics and what the instructor is talking about before starting to work through the various levels for step-dancing. If you have prior experience, please contact us so that we can help place you in a level that best fits your abilities.

2021 Fall - OVA

Name
Days
Location
OVA - Intro to Irish Dance EL [Mon]
This course is designed to give students an introduction to basic Irish step dance as well as touching on the many different types of other Irish dance forms. You will learn about the history of Irish dance and then be taught some basic steps during interactive class time with the instructor. You can choose to take the interactive portion of the class virtually through the zoom platform or in-person in our Rochester Hills studio. Both the virtual and in-person offerings will be identical and taught real time by a qualified Irish dance instructor.

Each interactive class portion begins with a warm-up and brief conditioning routine designed to benefit Irish dance training and ensure that students have the tools they need to do their steps properly and safely. Students will then learn and practice basic light shoe techniques and dances and the instructor will offer feedback and correction where appropriate. Halfway through the course, students will be introduced to heavy shoes and also begin to learn the essential foundational techniques and positions for heavy shoe Irish step dancing. At the end of each class, you will be taken through a carefully crafted cool down and stretch to protect your muscles.

Since Irish dance is a cultural artform rich in history, throughout the course, students will also learn about Ireland, the history of Irish step dance as it’s evolved, and bits of the Irish language, Gaelic. In addition, they will be introduced to other styles of Irish dance that exist, as well as learning what Irish dance looks like in today’s world.

Irish dance shoes are not required for this course; students can dance in tennis shoes or other dance shoes (ballet shoes, jazz shoes, etc) and wear comfortable clothes you easily move in.
