Our Elementary 1 classes are designed to provide an outlet for students in second through fourth grades who would like to begin dance studies or continue their passion for dance.

Elementary 1 Ballet introduces students to the basic structure of a ballet class - warm-up, barre work, centre work, traveling steps and choreography - while focusing on beginning ballet skills and terminology.

Students are placed in classes based on their age and experience, and are continually evaluated by our faculty to insure proper placement. In an environment that builds self-esteem and confidence, parents are assured their child will develop necessary life tools that extend far beyond the classroom.

Elementary 1 Jazz, Tap and/or Hip-Hop is STRONGLY recommended in conjunction with ballet to aid in the development of rhythm and musicality; Elementary 1 Modern and/or AcroDance build strength, coordination and overall body awareness while diversifying skills.


CLASS REQUIREMENTS:
Students must be in 2nd, 3rd or 4th of the given school year (age 7-10).
Student must maintain an 75% attendance record for the school year. Make-up classes should be taken within one month of absences to reinforce skills being learned.
If a student's attendance average falls below the minimum requirement, a meeting may be arranged to discuss student's participation in class and/or the recital to be sure the student is learning the necessary skills and can be successful in class and on the stage.

DRESS CODE - GIRLS
ATTIRE: Black leotard, pink or appropriate tights for skin-tone that can be worn over the foot, appropriate color ballet slippers for skin tone. Black skirts are permitted, but not required. Black dance sweaters or a black fitted long sleeve shirt may be worn during winter months. NO HOODIES or clothing with pockets.
HAIR: Medium to longer length hair is to be worn securely up and away from the face (including bangs) in a bun, French braids, or other style appropriate for hair type that gathers hair securely.

BEGINNERS IN 5th Grade & above (ages 10 & up)

OurElementary 2 level classes are designed to provide an outlet for students in 5th grade and above who would like to begin dance studies or continue their passion for dance. Studio North Dance Arts provides students with the highest quality dance training, allowing young dancers to build confidence, gain strength and reach their fullest potential. These classes provide open opportunities to dance for boys and girls ages 7 through 19. Our Elementary 2 level program allows dancers to attend one day a week and explore the fundamental teachings of ballet,tap jazz, modern, acrodance and hip-hop.

Students are placed in classes based on age and previous dance experience. Our faculty continually evaluated by to insure proper placement. The length of class increases as the dancer progresses in age, interest, vocabulary and ability. In an environment that builds self-esteem and confidence, parents are assured their child will develop necessary life tools that extend far beyond the classroom.

CLASS REQUIREMENTS
New students must be in 5th grade or above (age 10 & up) for the given school year; experienced 9year olds may be placed in this level by teacher recommendation.
In order to safely build skills, maintain strength and move forward with classmates, student must maintain an 75% attendance record for the school year. Make-up classes should be taken within one month of absences to reinforce skills being learned.
If a student's attendance average falls below the minimum requirement, a meeting may be arranged to discuss student's participation in class and/or the recital to be sure the student is learning the necessary skills and can be successful and confident in class and on the stage.

Dancers that excel technically with the passion, dedication and desire to pursue more serious dance training are selected by teachers through in-class evaluation. Dancers invited to participate in these programs are required to maintain a minimum of 4 classes a week, including 2 ballet classes.

Disciplines offered include ballet, jazz, tap, modern, pointe, and hip-hop. Classes provide a strong and diverse pre-professional foundation for young dance artists. Registration in these classes is by teacher invitation/recommendation only.

Students are placed in classes based on age and previous dance experience. Our faculty continually evaluated by to insure proper placement. The length of class increases as the dancer progresses in age, interest, vocabulary and ability. In an environment that builds self-esteem and confidence, parents are assured their child will develop necessary life tools that extend far beyond the classroom.

CLASS REQUIREMENTS
Experienced dance students must be at least 8 years of age (in 3rd Grade), have 2 years of previous ballet training and have the recommendation of his/her teacher.
Student must be registered for a minimum of four (4) classes a week, including two (2) ballet classes, no exceptions.
Students must have an excellent attendance record from the previous school year (85% or higher attendance in all classes)
Students must maintain an 85% attendance record for the school year. Make-up classes should be taken within one month of absences to provide consistent technical training and maintain strength.
If a student's average falls below the minimum requirement or if at any point the teacher feels that it is unsafe to continue in BIO classes, a student may be put on probation until required make-ups are completed or he/she may removed from the program.

Elementary 1 Jazz and/or Elementary 1Tap is STRONGLY recommended in conjunction with Elementary 1 Hip-Hop to aid in the development of rhythm and musicality; Elementary 1 Ballet is recommended as well to build strength, technique and performance skills, while Elementary 1 Modern and/or Elementary 1 AcroDance strength, coordination and overall body awareness while diversifying skills.

While all dance is physical, this form is particularly athletic and has unique choreography due to its use of acrobatics in a dance environment. Acrodance classes will not only improve your child`s confidence and coordination, but it is a great way to build all body strength and flexibility through conditioning and stretching exercises.

Elementary 1 Ballet is STRONGLY recommended in conjunction with Acro 1 to reinforce proper technique, build strength and develop performance skills. Elementary 1 Tap and/or Elementary 1 Hip-Hop aid with rhythm and musicality, while Elementary 1 Jazz and/or Modern build strength, coordination and overall body awareness while diversifying skills.

Pre-Ballet is STRONGLY recommended in conjunction with Pre-Acro to reinforce proper technique, build strength and develop performance skills. Elementary Hip-Hop and/or Jazz/Tap aids with rhythm development, strength, coordination and overall body awareness while diversifying skills.

Acro 3/4 continues to build on skills learned in previous levels, including hand springs, aerials and increased flexibility.

Ballet is STRONGLY recommended in conjunction with Acro 3/4 to reinforce proper technique, build strength and develop performance skills. Tap and/or Hip-Hop aid with rhythm and musicality, while Jazz and/or Modern build strength, coordination and overall body awareness while diversifying skills.


CLASS REQUIREMENTS:
Students must in 6th grade or above for the given school year.
Students must have the teacher’s recommendation OR be skill tested if new to Studio North Dance Arts.
Student must maintain an 75% attendance record for the school year. Make-up classes should be taken within one month of absences to reinforce skills being learned.

CREATIVE MOVEMENT

GRADE/AGE: Preschool ages 3-5
PRE-REQUISITES: none


Our signature introductory class for pre-school students, this program offers development in coordination, basic motor skills, musical awareness, and listening skills while helping students tap into their natural creativity in a stress free and fun environment. Through this program, boys and girls gain a sense of joy, accomplishment and independence while learning how to be in a dance classroom. Sharing this positive experience with their peers, students gain an understanding of teamwork that positively benefits and influences their everyday lives. Song, games, and basic ballet, tap and movement skills are used to help engage the students’ attention and imagination in class. Students perform one dance routine in our annual May recital. The class meets once a week for 45 minutes.


CLASS REQUIREMENTS:
Student must be at least 3 years of age by August 31st of the given school year.
Student must be potty-trained and must be able to attend class independent of parent (we will work with shy students who need temporary parental support in class)
Student must maintain an 75% attendance record for the school year. Make-up classes should be taken within one month of absences to reinforce skills being learned.
If a student's attendance average falls below the minimum requirement, a meeting may be arranged to discuss student's participation in class and/or the recital to be sure the student is learning the necessary skills and can be successful in class and on the stage.

Our Elementary 2 level classes are designed to provide an outlet for students in 5th grade and above who would like to begin dance studies or continue their passion for dance. While this program builds and works on mastery of skills previously introduced in Elementary 1 classes, it is also the entry point for new dance students in 5th grade or above.

Students are placed in classes based on age and previous dance experience. Our faculty continually evaluated by to insure proper placement. The length of class increases as the dancer progresses in age, interest, vocabulary and ability. In an environment that builds self-esteem and confidence, parents are assured their child will develop necessary life tools that extend far beyond the classroom.

Elementary 2 Jazz and/or Tap is STRONGLY recommended in conjunction with Elementary 2 Hip-Hop to aid in the development of rhythm and musicality; Elementary 2 Ballet is recommended as well to build strength, technique and performance skills, while Elementary 2 Modern and/or AcroDance build strength, coordination and overall body awareness while diversifying skills.

Our Senior level classes are designed to provide continued technical training and performance development for high school students. This program build on technique and skills acquired inIntermediate classes, mastering previously introduced skills while being challenged with new skills.

Studio North Dance Arts provides students with the highest quality dance training, allowing young dancers to build confidence, gain strength and reach their fullest potential. Intermediate programs provide open opportunities to dance for boys and girls ages 12 and up. This program allows dancers to attend one day a week and explore the fundamental teachings of ballet, tap jazz, modern, acrodance and hip-hop.

Students are placed in classes based on age and previous dance experience. Our faculty continually evaluated by to insure proper placement. The length of class increases as the dancer progresses in age, interest, vocabulary and ability. In an environment that builds self-esteem and confidence, parents are assured their child will develop necessary life tools that extend far beyond the classroom.

A Jazz and/or Tap class is STRONGLY recommended in conjunction with Senior Hip-Hop to aid in the development of rhythm and musicality; Ballet is recommended as well to build strength, technique and performance skills, while Modern and/or AcroDance build strength, coordination and overall body awareness while diversifying skills. (Level placement in additional disciplines is determined by previous experience in that style.)

CLASS REQUIREMENTS
Students must be in 9th grade or above (age 14 & up) for the given school year; experienced 13 year olds may be placed in this level by teacher recommendation.
2 or more years previous experience in Intermediate Hip-Hop & teacher recommendation.
In order to safely build skills, maintain strength and move forward with classmates, student must maintain an 75% attendance record for the school year. Make-up classes should be taken within one month of absences to reinforce skills being learned.
If a student's attendance average falls below the minimum requirement, a meeting may be arranged to discuss student's participation in class and/or the recital to be sure the student is learning the necessary skills and can be successful and confident in class and on the stage.

DRESS CODE - GIRLS
ATTIRE: Comfortable athletic style clothing - t-shirts, tank tops, leggings, sweatpants, shorts, etc. No jeans, hoodies, crop tops, sports bras only or clothing with pockets.
SHOES: Black dance sneakers.
HAIR: Hair is to be worn securely up and away from the face; short hair should be held out of face by headband or clips.

CREATIVE MOVEMENT

GRADE/AGE: Preschool ages 3-5
PRE-REQUISITES: none


Our signature introductory class for pre-school students, this program offers development in coordination, basic motor skills, musical awareness, and listening skills while helping students tap into their natural creativity in a stress free and fun environment. Through this program, boys and girls gain a sense of joy, accomplishment and independence while learning how to be in a dance classroom. Sharing this positive experience with their peers, students gain an understanding of teamwork that positively benefits and influences their everyday lives. Song, games, and basic ballet, tap and movement skills are used to help engage the students’ attention and imagination in class. Students perform one dance routine in our annual May recital. The class meets once a week for 45 minutes.


CLASS REQUIREMENTS:
Student must be at least 3 years of age by August 31st of the given school year.
Student must be potty-trained and must be able to attend class independent of parent (we will work with shy students who need temporary parental support in class)
Student must maintain an 75% attendance record for the school year. Make-up classes should be taken within one month of absences to reinforce skills being learned.

The length of class increases as the dancer progresses in age, interest, vocabulary and ability. Elementary 2 Ballet is STRONGLY recommended in conjunction with Elementary 2 Jazz to reinforce proper technique, build strength and develop performance skills.
