Ballet: Pre Pointe - Technique & Strengthening (need eval)
Pre-Pointe is a pointe preparation class for serious ballet students who are not yet on pointe to further develop and strengthen the muscles necessary to go en pointe. Pre-pointe classes stress correct alignment and correct classical ballet technique. Pre-pointe classes also allow teachers to assess readiness, offering an atmosphere for proper evaluation of important skills. *Evaluation by an instructor is required to enroll.

DES Drop In Class 14+
This open/drop in class is for all high school and college age dancers. The class will rotate through different styles each week – those styles will include Jazz Technique, Contemporary, Lyrical, and Jazz Combos. Technique will focus on different advanced turn and jump combos to help prepare dancers for both high school and college dance teams/tryouts. Aside from technique, the other style classes will run similar to a Master class with a quick and effective warm up/stretch followed by a dance combo and group dancing. Each class will also involve improvisation, with tips shared on how to feel more comfortable with improvisation. These classes are for dancers wanting extra training and gives them flexibility to drop in when they can. We want to provide dancers an open, safe, and worry-free zone to come and dance with other dancers from around the valley while improving their skills as they focus on themselves and their love for dance!

Advanced Contemporary 12+ yrs need evaluation to register
This advanced level class is recommended for dancers ages 12+ with some prior dance experience. Contemporary combines ballet and modern techniques with musical and emotional expression with a strong focus on modern techniques (contractions and release, off-center balances and suspension) as well as musicality and self-expression. Contemporary dance appeals to the creative, artistic soul in everyone because of its expressiveness and freedom of individuality. Students will use breath, opposition, and strength that will carry over into other disciplines. This class will develop advanced awareness of where the body naturally goes, how it naturally moves, with an exploration of musicality, movement style, dynamic shifts, space, time, spinal mobility, movement initiation, physicality, floorwork- identifying correct pathways from moving in and out of the floor with alignment to help injury prevention.

Advanced Jazz Technique need evaluation to register
This is an advanced jazz technique class focusing specifically on leaps, jumps, and turns. Extra focus will be placed on strengthening core and flexibility as well as executing advanced placement positions in order to increase turn rotations and extensions in leaps. The class curriculum also centers on skills such as showmanship, jazz technique, kicks, and splits; which are particularly important for competition dance teams, high school dance and drill teams, and any other competitive team. This class does not participate in any recitals.

Ballet: Pointe - need evaluation to register
This class is intended for those dancers who have shown adequate physical strength, accurate technique, and necessary mental awareness to go en pointe. Students will learn and practice pointe at the barre with heavy emphasis on correct foot and body alignment and the development of foot/ankle strength. This class is geared toward dancers new to pointe, as well as those within their first few years who are still building strength. Dancers will perform exercises at the barre and in center, learning more advanced steps en pointe. The goal for this level is for dancers to become comfortable and stable while working en pointe in center. Pointe is an extra class and does not count as a ballet technique class for company dancers. A dancer should never work in pointe shoes until their teacher has told them they are ready to do so; pre-pointe class is taken in ballet slippers until the dancer has developed the strength and muscles necessary to go en pointe. **Requires Instructor Approval to Enroll.

A class for students who are more comfortable with the elementary positions of classical ballet and can move easily through the barre and center floor work. Our ballet technique classes are the foundation for training in all dance genres and focus on developing a solid ballet technique with emphasis on understanding correct body placement, proper use of turn out, coordination of the upper body (epaulement), and use of arms (port de bras). Clear explanations of exercises and theory help students increases their use of the ballet vocabulary in a simple, practical way that leads to increased technical understanding, healthy physical development, and lifelong enjoyment.

Dance With Me Ballet/Jazz (Adult & Child class)
Our "Dance With Me" class is a special 30-minute dance class designed for toddlers (18 months to 3 years) where a parent or guardian joins them during their dance class. It is a fun way for moms (or dads, grandparents, nanny's, aunts or uncles) and their toddlers to connect with each other in a playful environment and also interact with other little ones. This class introduces toddlers to our studio and classroom expectations in order to make sure they feel comfortable learning to dance with us before progressing to one of our more independant combo classes at age 3.

Students with strong ballet technique, sufficient core and ankle strength, and a teacher's recommendation go on to study 'en pointe' (Pointe Shoes).
