Contemporary- A compelling class for the inquisitive, this class explores self-discovery and the use of space. Students build technique, learn expressive dance combinations, and plunge into guided improvisation. The class utilizes slower yet powerful music (artists may include Adele, Ed Sheeran, Mumford and Sons etc.)
Ballet- Develop a solid foundation of the fundamental techniques that span across all dance styles. Students practice traditional barre sequences, positions and alignments, and move fluidly across the floor. All NVM students are encouraged to take ballet to learn basic terms, polish skills, and develop the bodily awareness that prevents injury.
Dance Attire: Hair pulled back, non-baggy athletic clothing, no jeans or other non-athletic clothing, leotard and tights, pink ballet shoes/barefoot, no jewelry.

MUSICAL THEATRE DANCE- Offered to students ages 10 & up at various skill levels. Musical theatre is a Jazz based form of dance that combines acting & dance. The stories and emotional content of the piece are communicated through the words, music, and movement as an integrated whole. In this style of dance, we explore the history of Broadway from the early 20th century through the Broadway hits of today.

Students develop listening skills and basic motor skills, while building strength and coordination—and confidence as they master their first tumble! A few theme-based classes may be sprinkled in; the tumbling portion of classes are held on mats for safety. In the creative movement part of classes, students will explore different ways to move across the dance floor that may incorporate styles such as hip-hop and contemporary. They will also learn short dance combinations to build their recall and dance skills!

Mommy & Me 2 (Ages 2.5-3.5)
This is a bridge class for those students between the ages of 2.5-3.5 who are not quite ready to be in a class by themselves. This class works towards acclimating the students to the classroom and the instructor with the ultimate goal of having parents watching versus participating by the end of the year. Students progress through basic ballet and tumbling skills, creative movement with props, dance to sing-a-long songs, and of course learn a dance for our annual recital!
