Acro dance will provide more depth and variety of tricks for dancers by focusing on strength and flexibility in a safe environment. Musical Theatre Mini Camp is a jazz-based class filled with Broadway style dancing and music. Classes incorporate the style of dance one would typically see on a Broadway stage. This form of dancing emphasizes learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and facial expressions. We will also focus on short memorizations as well as acting techniques.

In this mini camp we will focus on developing the skills necessary to perform a variety of turns and leaps i.e. pirouettes, a la seconde turns, fouette turns, coupe turns, pencil turns, attitude turns, leg hold turns, second jumps, switch leaps, switch second leaps, backwards jetes, surprise jumps, etc.

55 minute class combining ballet, tap and creative movement for an unforgettable dance experience. Students will learn to shuffle and plié, among other dance skills. Other areas of focus are making friends, learning how to participate in a class, follow instructions, use imagination and dance along to their favorite songs. This class will perform a ballet dance and a tap dance in our annual Spring Dance Concert.

Dress Guidelines: Dancers may wear pink, black, or tan tights and any color and style of leotard. Skirts are permitted. Pink or nude leather or canvas ballet shoes are required for the ballet portion of class. Ballet shoes should be worn snug, with ties tucked in at all times. Black patent leather tap shoes are required for tap. Tap shoes must be secured with velcro, elastic, or tap shoe ties. Please discard ribbons. ​

Male Dancers Dress Guidelines: Please dress comfortably in a solid color pant or dance pant along with a t-shirt or tank top. Jeans are not allowed in class. You must have the proper shoes for each class. Ballet- black leather or canvas ballet shoes. Tap- Black tap shoes.

55 minute combination class where students will focus on building the strength, flexibility and control needed to execute Ballet & Contemporary technique. Each class will emphasize barre exercises, center floor work, and across-the-floor combinations for the ballet portion of class. For contemporary, the dancer is taught to interpret his or her movement with feeling, emotion, and style.

Dress Guidelines: Dancers may wear pink, black, or tan convertible tights and any color and style of leotard. Skirts are permitted. Pink or nude leather or canvas ballet shoes. Jazz pants/Capris/Leggings/Hot Shorts are permitted in the contemporary portion of class. Pink leather or canvas ballet shoes are required for ballet. Contemporary will be done in bare feet.

55 minute combination class. Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of Tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm Tap. Exercises will focus on building flexibility of the knees and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. The Jazz portion of class will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns.

Tap & Jazz Combo Dress Guidelines: Dancers may wear leggings, hot shorts, leotards, crop tops. Crop tops are not sports bras and are fitted longer in the torso. Dancers may also wear leotard and tights, but they are not required. Skin color jazz shoes are required for jazz. Skin color slip on or oxford leather tap shoes are required for tap.

Level 6/7 Flat Ballet
Level 6/7 Flat Ballet: 55 minute class where students will focus on building the strength, flexibility and control needed to execute proper Ballet technique. Ballet technique taught at Sherri's Dance Center is a combination of Italian Cecchetti and Russian Vaganova technique. Emphasis on understanding correct body placement, proper use of turn out, coordination of the upper body (epaulement), and the use of arms (port de bras). Class begins with work at the barre to build strength and coordination, followed by center exercises, culminating in a grand allegro combinations or variations. Clear explanations of exercises and theory help students use the ballet vocabulary in a simple, practical way that leads to increased technical understanding, healthy physical development, and lifelong enjoyment.

Dress Guidelines: female dancers will wear leotards and tights of any color. Hair should be secured in a bun, no large jewelry. Ballet flats may be pink or skin color. Male dancers will wear fitted leggings and a solid color shirt or tank. Ballet shoes should be black.

Level 4 Hip Hop: Hip Hop is a 55 minute class that is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements. Hip Hop dance requires students to have strength & stamina. Therefore, class includes upper and lower body conditioning as well as rigorous warm up to help students prepare for more intense movement.

Female Dress Guidelines for Hip Hop: ​Dancers are permitted to wear leggings, joggers, sweats, or workout pants to class. Tanks and t-shirts are allowed. Jeans are not permitted. Shoes should be clean "studio only" tennis shoes. Dancers will be required to wear black pastry pop tart shoes for the recital.

Male Dress Guidelines for Hip Hop: ​Please dress comfortably in an athletic pant or dance pant along with a t-shirt or tank top. Jeans are not permitted. Hip Hop shoes should be black Pastry pop tart shoes.​

Level 5 Pointe
Students with strong ballet technique, sufficient core and ankle strength, and a teacher's recommendation go on to study 'en pointe'. ​We do not encourage pointe work until the student has accomplished an advanced technical level. Proper development and physical maturity of the student will determine the ability for pointe shoes. In this 55 minute class dancers will develope ankle and foot strength as well as flexibility. Class will work at the barre to build strength and coordination, followed by center exercises, culminating in a grand allegro combinations or variations.

Other areas of focus are making friends, learning how to participate in a class, follow instructions, use imagination and dance along to their favorite songs. This class will perform only a hip hop dance in our annual Spring Dance Concert.
