Ballet & Tap Combo Class: 55 minute class combining ballet, tap and creative movement for an unforgettable dance experience. Students will learn to shuffle and plié, among other dance skills. Level 4 Tap & Jazz: Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of Tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm Tap. Exercises will focus on building flexibility of the knees and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. Jazz class will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns.

Level 4 Hip Hop Monday
Level 4 Hip Hop: Hip Hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements. Hip Hop dance requires students to have strength & stamina. Therefore, class includes upper and lower body conditioning as well as rigorous warm up to help students prepare for more intense movement.

Level 6/7 Flat Ballet
Ballet technique taught at Sherri's Dance Center is a combination of Italian Cecchetti and Russian Vaganova technique. Emphasis on understanding correct body placement, proper use of turn out, coordination of the upper body (epaulement), and the use of arms (port de bras). Class begins with work at the barre to build strength and coordination, followed by center exercises, culminating in a grand allegro combinations or variations. Clear explanations of exercises and theory help students use the ballet vocabulary in a simple, practical way that leads to increased technical understanding, healthy physical development, and lifelong enjoyment.

Level 4 Ballet & Contemporary: One hour class where students will focus on building the strength, flexibility and control needed to execute Ballet & Contemporary technique. Each class will emphasize barre exercises, center floor work, and across-the-floor combinations. The dancer is taught to interpret his or her movement with feeling, emotion, and style.

Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and ballet. Contemporary dance stresses versatility and improvisation, unlike the strict, structured nature of ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements. Contemporary dancers focus on floorwork, using gravity to pull them down to the floor. This dance genre is often done in bare feet. Contemporary dance can be performed to many different styles of music.

Jazz dance develops isolation movements of specific body parts while incorporating different qualities of movement into choreographed sequences. Jazz class will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns. Students will be exposed to various styles of Jazz such to help develop a well rounded dancer. Class curriculum is based on Ballet technique layered with traditional Jazz movement and includes a proper warm-up, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. As a dance form, Jazz has an exciting, vibrant, and dynamic quality that makes it popular among all students. Jazz dance is used for entertainment in theater, movies and the popular music videos. Jazz is also important for students interested in musical theater.

Students with strong ballet technique, sufficient core and ankle strength, and a teacher's recommendation go on to study 'en pointe'. We do not encourage pointe work until the student has accomplished an advanced technical level. Proper development and physical maturity of the student will determine the ability for pointe shoes.
Class placement is determined by the instructor.

Adult tap class. This class will meet 8 times- September 20, 27 October 4, 18, 25 and November 1, 8, 15. For anyone who wants to perform in the recital- there will be rehearsal November 29 and December 1. The performances will be December 2. One performance will be in the afternoon, and the other in the evening. The cost of this class is $120 due at the time of registration. This is a one time fee for the entire 8 classes. If you choose to perform costumes will be a seperate cost to you.

Younger students will learn to count musical phrases as well as gain an understanding of the importance of keeping together as a class. As the dancer progresses, challenging combinations for tap dancers further improve coordination, foot and ankle flexibility, and speed. Tap also enhances the dancer's performance, poise, and personality.

Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is now being incorporated in ballet classes. PBT is an innovative body-conditioning and strengthening program that has been designed to enhance students' technique by focusing on training the muscle memory required in each exercise in all forms of dance. It is a unique training system using ballet-technique specific exercises to train skill acquisition in a graded and progressive manner from junior through to advanced levels.

It has deep historical and social roots in African American culture, having emerged in Black communities living in 1970s New York. Hip Hop includes using syncopated beats and rhythm to create high impact and high energy dance. Hip Hop dance combines athleticism, originality, and attitude.
