Students at these levels should have completed Primary Level, or Elementary Level 1 classes previously. Our Elementary division classes are often a student's first experience with a full ballet class format. Class begins at the barre & proceeds to center and across the floor combinations. Ballet at this level is challenging, but kept fun with analogy and creative formats, and the use of all types of music. We encourage all of our students to push themselves, exploring and creating with movement!

**FOR SUMMER 2019 TUITION IS $80 FOR ALL SIX WEEKS!** Combination classes are so much fun! This class spends half of our time in ballet shoes, and half of the time in Tap shoes. Foundations level classes are designed to provide a solid foundation of ballet and tap technique for the beginning dancer. In an encouraging and highly creative environment students will learn arm and foot positions, basic locomotor exercises, execution of beginning classical ballet combinations, classroom etiquette and basic ballet principles. (Students will come home teaching you how to do “popcorn toes!” and “flamingo legs”!) Developing and exploring creative concepts is important to us. Games & exercises encourage the development of your student’s creativity. *This class is a good fit for both beginning dancers at ages 4.5 - 5 and students who have completed a year in our Ballet Foundations I classes.

Our Dance Conditioning Class is designed for Elementary and Teen level dancers, ages 9 and up. Class will start with a cardio based warm-up followed by conditioning exercises for strength, stamina and flexibility. Exercises are targeted at known weak points for dancers in order to build dancers who are conditioned correctly for safe execution in their technique classes. This class is designed for dancers taking another Technique class... i.e.: ballet, jazz, etc. Enrollment in a weekly technique class is a pre-requisite for this class. Fee is only $20 monthly when you are taking a technique class as well!

**FOR SUMMER 2019 TUITION IS $80 FOR ALL SIX WEEKS!** Contemporary class focuses on growing a dancer's performance quality and movement contrasts along with fluidity, poise, control and emotive qualities. Jazz is excellent for flexibility and strength training, and a classic technical style! Lyrical/contemporary is a fluid form of dance done to all different styles of music. The dancer is taught to interpret his or her movement with feeling, emotion and style. They will learn to tell a story or create the picture of the song. This style combines the fluid beauty of ballet, strength and grounded look of modern, with contrasting sharper movements usually seen in jazz. *A Ballet or Jazz class is recommended along with your Contemporary class, to build technique.

danceART WORKSHOP
Our Dance ART Workshop will provide participants with a chance to see their dancing in a different way - as a piece of visual AND performing art! Instructors will assist students in the creation of a movement phrase during the first half of our workshop. Choreography skills, tips and tricks will be shared to help aid students in the creation of their phrase of movement, and educate them on the basics of choreography. Chrissy Jones, resident art teacher at Ascend will then assist our dancers in applying paint to themselves first (literally! the dancers become their own paintbrushes!) and then the fabric canvas on the floor. At the end of our workshop dancers will have created two different pieces of art, one visual art piece and one performance piece!

This is a fun class with upbeat and popular music focused on teaching the most important skills for progression in both Tap and Ballet styles. Dancers will work on all types of skills in both areas while imaginative games, analogies and exercises help keep them excited and engaged in their work! **Students are most successful in this class if they are at least 3.5 years of age and have prior experience in a Foundations level class.**

Our Elementary Ballet II class is designed for intermediate level students (not beginners) at age 8-11. Students at this level should have completed Primary Level, or Elementary Level 1 classes previously. Our Elementary division classes are often a student's first experience with a full ballet class format. Class begins at the barre & proceeds to center and across the floor combinations. Ballet at this level is challenging, but kept fun with analogy and creative formats, and the use of all types of music. We encourage all of our students to push themselves, exploring and creating with movement!
