Dance Ability Adult Hip Hop
An upbeat for dancers ages 17+ designed to keep our young adults movin’ and groovin’! This Hip Hop style class teaches dancers to learn new choreography, move in different ways, and appreciate a multitude of music styles through the use of the Elements of Dance (Body, Action, Space, Time, Energy). Freestyle opportunities to develop self-expression and confidence are a key component of this class. This class incorporates dance technique with fun and socialization with peers!

ALL DA classes are run in partnership with The Dance Ability Movement (www.danceabilitymovement.com). Registering for this class means you are consenting to your contact information being shared with DAM for participation in this program. The Dance Ability Movement recruits and trains volunteers to support dancers’ participation in classes. All DA dancers will be invited to DAM community events (i.e., virtual socials, etc.)

NEW DANCERS OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST (OT) INTAKE: New Dancers will be contacted by an Occupational Therapist from The Dance Ability Movement (DAM) to complete an intake and register with the DAM community. NEW dancers to The Dance Ability Movement will pay $155 +HST for their Initial Occupational Therapy Intake in addition to their class tuition.

CLASS PLACEMENTS: Please note that the class offerings listed are a general guideline. Part of the Occupational Therapist's role and the team approach to our services is to ensure the groups for classes are well-matched, meaning at times the age groups of the classes are shifted slightly to provide the best possible experience for each of the dancers. If you are unsure of which class to register for, please feel free to reach out to your studio's instructor or OT to further the discussion. The Dance Ability Movement aims to offer classes to meet the needs of a variety of dancers. We also offer different styles of dance at times to provide further challenges to dancers and tailor classes to their interests as able. We value open communication with families to ensure the best fit for their dancer!

Dance Ability Ballet FUNdamentals
This class is designed for dancers ages 12+ who wish to focus on developing their Ballet technique. These dancers do not necessarily need a 1:1 volunteer buddy, but benefit from having peer models in the class to learn from and develop age-appropriate social relationships. This class is for dancers who express desires to be a ballerina, and are looking for a FUN way to build in ballet technique to their dance class!
Typically dancers registering for this class have been referred by their OT from The Dance Ability Movement or are looking for a new dance style to participate in other than the standard "Dance Ability Hip Hop" classes. If you're interested and want to know if this is the right fit for you, contact us to discuss further!

Dance Ability Performance Crew
For experienced dancers who love the opportunity to perform! These dancers will gather for choreography classes only, to learn choreography targeted at advocating for dancers of all abilities and enhancing the inclusive social movement. Dancers are expected to be committed team members who proudly represent the broader Dance Ability Movement community. Dancers will be called upon to perform at various community events. Dancers participating in the Performance Crew must be registered in or volunteering for at least one other Dance Ability class. Dancers must be available for community performances set-out at the beginning of the year, and be open for future performance opportunities that may arise. Dancers must purchase a Dance Ability Movement T-shirt. Consistent attendance at these classes is important!

COSTS and TIMES of classes will be finalized in October: Please contact us with interest at this time.

Dance Ability Rhythm & Tap
A class for dancers beginning at the age of 10+ with 1:1 volunteer buddies as needed, specifically designed to teach tap skills. Tap classes develop skills in rhythmicity, counting music, balance, and coordination, while providing a great source of audio feedback for dancers to learn through hearing their feet move! This is a great option for dancers looking to expand their dance skill set and branch out from the Ballet, Jazz, and Hip Hop styles. Dancers will be required to wear tap shoes for these classes. Seated dancers can join in the musical rhythms too! Ask us for ideas on how to adapt tap shoes or modify tap classes to suit your needs!
