Our curriculum focuses on the movement vocabulary, discipline and foundation of classical ballet technique. This class will consist of structured barre exercises to learn rhythm, posture, alignment and balance. Center work includes adagio, petite allegro. Students will learn to jump, turn and leap with emphasis on strength and control. Dancers who have a strong ballet education will be versatile in all dance forms and styles. This ballet level is all about setting the proper foundation that set your dancer up for success! Class time is spent focusing on proper placement, body alignment, safely working in a turned out position, ballet vocabulary, and class etiquette. Exercises are performed at a moderate tempo to ensure the dancer is using the correct muscles for each movement. Muscle memory is developed through lots and lots of repetition. It may look simple from the lobby, but even standing still requires a dancer to think of 8-10 things at a time.

Dancers in level 2 may also be selected to participate in pre pointe.

This style of dance is a fluid combination of ballet and jazz technique and will add a contemporary combination. It is more expressive in nature, relating to the spirit, nature, joy and freedom of the individual dancer. Lyrical & contemporary dance uses movement to interpret the music and expresses emotion. Attire: bare feet, jazz shoes, pirouettes, solid color leotard and tights. Boy shorts and close-fitting tops are acceptable.
