Students can expect to be in level 2 for two years. Level 2 is an intermediate level class that meets twice a week. It is appropriate to those who are just joining the academy, returning to dance, have had training in other styles of dance but less ballet, dancers returning from an injury, or those who want to improve their overall level of technique.

Level 2 classes focus on correct placement, creating a solid foundation, and preparation/beginning pointe work. Class meets twice a week. All pointe work begins and develops in this level. Students must take two level 2 ballet classes a week in order to be invited to take pointe. Students who have taken beginner pointe for one year will take barre en pointe in the Monday class.

Beginner Ballet meets once a week, students can except to study one or two years in Beginner Ballet. Coursework is designed to develop an awareness of class structure, etiquette, musicality, posture, and alignment needed for classical ballet. Most importantly, children have fun falling in love with the art form and the discipline required.

Class begins with floor exercises designed to strengthen and coordinate the body for classical ballet training. Students develop locomotive, balance, and gross motor skills in center exercises and across the floor movements. Creativity, improv, and acting are developed through improv and free dance allowing young dancers to express themselves, explore, and enjoy dance! At the end of this course students will be prepared mentally and physically to progress to a traditional ballet class.

Students in this level learn more complex combinations and steps while still concentrating on correct placement and foundations. This level is also appropriate for adults who already have a background in ballet.

Class will teach students basic ballet barre and center steps in a fun and non judgmental atmosphere. Class always contains a stretching portion that will leave you feeling great! This class is also a great option for adults who would like to dust off their pointe shoes!

If you do not have any prior dance training, you may enjoy Absolute Beginner Ballet to learn basic steps and positions!

Prerequisites:
This class is by invitation only.
Students must take a ballet class before pointe class.
Students must take two ballet classes per week to be considered for pointe work.
Students must be in level 2 or above.

Beginner pointe introduces students to pointe work in a slow and safe manner. Dancers learn about how to prepare pointe shoes, conditioning exercises, and shoe maintenance. Students begin pointe work facing the barre and will slowly progress to beginner center exercises in the second half of the year/or when ready.
