Dance Exams **Interest Only** This is not a final registration.
This is for dancers who have been invited to participate in and are interested in taking dance exams during our 2023/24 season to express their interest and receive more information about the exam program in fall of 2023. Dancers who show the potential for excellence in their jazz, tap and/or ballet classes are invited to perform set work for master dance educators and receive feedback, awards and designations. ADAPT Exams are a combination of the highest caliber dance competition and a dance class. École Edward Schreyer School Students who are in grades 9-12 and are completing exam levels Pre-Intermediate 1 and above are eligible to participate in the exam extension program and receive up to 4 high school credits (maximum of 1 per school year). Students who attend high schools other than École Edward Schreyer School may be eligible as well, however, they’d need to meet with Miss Mikayla first to confirm eligibility.

Class Requirements
In order for dancers to successfully pass their ADAPT exams a high standard and quality of dance technique is needed. Dancers must take the following classes based on the exam level their teachers endorse for their individual needs and level.

Pre-Intermediate 3-Advanced: Dancers must take ballet, tap, jazz and their choice of either lyrical, contemporary or Ukrainian.

Only half of being a dancer is made up of what you learn in class, the other half is made up of the experiences you have on stage. The more performance opportunities dancers have the more they are able to apply the fulfilling benefits they’ll discover through performing in their day to day life. This is where performance company comes in! Company members will take weekly technique classes, attend group rehearsals and have additional performance opportunities throughout the year in our local communities.

Underlying all the performances and technique are the life lessons learnt through dance. TDC dancers will learn leadership skills, build confidence, practice teamwork, master goal setting & time management and show respect, inclusivity and love for others. Best of all, dance keeps kids out of trouble :)

Our performance company will also have the opportunity to travel bi-annually. Travel opportunities will range from performances within Canada to ones in the United States, Europe and beyond. All travel opportunities are strictly optional.

Apprentice Program (Must submit an application and be accepted)
Being a dance teacher is one of the best jobs in the world! Not only is it rewarding but it’s also fun, stress free and comes with a flexible schedule. Perfect for high school and university students! Our apprentice program teaches accepted applicants all there is to know about teaching dance in preparation for them to become TDC faculty members after completing the program. While every apprentice program graduate isn’t guaranteed a position at TDC they’ll be first on our list to join the high calibre teaching faculty at the fastest growing dance studio in eastern Manitoba.

In this three year training program our apprentices will learn classroom management skills, childhood development stages, child behaviour management skills, how to create lesson plans, how to choreograph dances, how to progress dancers in their training from creative movement to pre-professional and so much more! Graduating apprentices will have all the knowledge and skills needed to confidently teach classes on their own not only at TDC but anywhere their life leads them. They will also gain priceless life skills such as adaptability, time management, teaching skills, responsibility, confidence, leadership skills and more! Ecole Edward Schreyer School students will also have the ability to gain up to 3 high school credits upon completion of the program.

Our apprentice program students will have a 60 minute in class session twice each month from August - June and will be assigned a minimum of 2 hours of foundational or preschool program class at TDC to teach alongside a TDC faculty member.

All apprentices must be going into Grade 7 or above as of September 1, 2024. Anyone who wishes to join the apprentice program must submit an application and resume, they will also be interviewed. To be eligible to apply the applicant must have 1 years experience as an assistant. Apprentices are also required to be registered in 2 dance classes at TDC, one of those classes must be jazz, tap, or ballet.

The application, resume, and interview are meant to be learning experiences for future jobs and careers. We understand this will probably be one of their first resumes and interviews, we are here to help guide them through the process. It’s a great opportunity to learn!

Senior Performance Company (Born in 2010 & Older)

Class Requirements: Dancers must take 2 additional classes per week (one must be either Ballet, Jazz or Tap, the other is their choice).
