CADA’s movement combination classes focus on exploration of style and development in various styles of dance which include Jazz, Contemporary/Modern, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Jazz Funk, Musical Theater, Ballroom, Improv, and other styles. Dancers learn a new combo each week in a fast-paced environment, which allows them to develop the skill of quickly picking up and memorizing choreography. Strong combination skills and versatility in style are highly beneficial in master classes, conventions, and auditions.

Second semester is focused on improv and preparing a piece to be performed at recital.

Our ballet trains proper body placement, balance, flexibility, alignment, and technique achieved both through barre and floor work. Ballet is the most foundational element in our studio’s training. As students advance they will eventually be able to take Ballet classes en pointe.

Pre-Ballet (grades 1-2)
A beginning level ballet class where students will strengthen their turn out, feet, arms, flexibility, and postural muscles; to build excellent ballet technique in each student individual feedback is implemented. Students will be introduced to new ballet terminology; a few include tendu, rond de jambe, port de bra, and the directions of the body.

There are two attributes that the muscles surrounding any joint should have in order to avoid injury. Firstly, they must have FLEXIBILITY in order to execute the skill properly. Secondly, they must have the STRENGTH to ensure the ability to support, stabilize, and move the joint through the proper position(s) safely.

Essential to break into the next level in your dancing: Our Flexibility & Stability classes include mUvmethod, Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT), Pilates for Dancers, rhythmic gymnastics flexibility techniques, and progressive stability training. Equipment is used to increase variety and efficacy. Flexibility and Strength are integral to dance training progress and safety.

Jazz is an exciting and fun dance genre that develops strength, flexibility, confidence, power and articulation in dancers. Developing these skills in class directly correlates to stronger routines on stage and lays another level of training foundation that transfers to various other styles of dance.

Foundations for spotting, balancing, rebounding for leaps, chasse, start single pirouette, chaine turns, pique turn prep, battemat prep, correct legs and feet in pike alignment Beginning Jazz Technique introduces dancers to the Luigi Jazz Technique with emphasis on body alignment and balance. Teachers use imagery and creative activities to encourage better understanding of the concepts, while enforcing proper technique, and exploring stylized choreography.

Ballet Level 3 (passed level 2) Intermediate
A combination class of ballet and beginning pointe. The students' pointe segment develops confidence, and a strong foundation of strength, and technique; a few movements include releves, runs on demi-pointe, retire and foot progressions. Students continue to strengthen and expand their ballet technique, coordination, terminology, and musicality and are provided with individualized feedback.
Ballet Level 4 (passed level 3) Intermediate +
An intermediate combination class of ballet and pointe where the students' pointe segment develops confidence, and a strong foundation of strength, and technique; a few movements include sous-sus, echappe, pas de bourrée in its various forms, retire, and preparations for simple turns. Students continue to strengthen and expand their ballet technique, coordination, terminology, and musicality and are provided with individualized feedback.
Ballet Level 5 (passed level 4) Advanced
An advanced combination class of ballet and pointe where students’ pointe segment demonstrates an expansion of vocabulary, coordination, and movement knowledge while maintaining a strong foundation of strength, technique, and placement; a few movements include echappe releve, pose coupe and arabesque, and preparations for turns in the center. Students continue to strengthen and expand their ballet technique, coordination, terminology, and musicality and are provided with individualized feedback.

Skill examples worked on include back walkover, front walkover, flying cartwheel, one-hand cartwheel left and right, handstand holding, back handspring over a barrel and more.

Teachers use imagery and creative activities to encourage better understanding of the concepts, while enforcing proper technique, and exploring stylized choreography. Chasse, balance work, proper pirouette prep and spotting, saus de chat (developpé leaps), spotting, balancing, releve strength, passé placement, chaines, pirouette single or double, pencil turns, coupe turns, front leaps, battements, side kick and arabesque; correct body placement in all the above technical elements; correct footwork and arm placement.
