'Teacher' is a play that depicts teacher, Annie Sullivan and her relationship with Helen Keller through her childhood. After an illness leaves Helen blind and deaf, she is isolated, unable to comprehend the world around her or to communicate with her family, who NEVER disciplined her.
Annie Sullivan, who recently graduated from the Perkins Institute for the Blind, is hired as a teacher for Helen.
Through the use of sign language and stern discipline, Annie teaches Helen to communicate. In the process, she frees herself from the burden of her own past.
At the end of the session, we will present a final performance to family and friends on November 21st.
