The mission of Summer Academy is to provide quality dance education & training through interdisciplinary learning that impacts the Summer Learning Loss for Boys & Girls ages 5 - 7 years old.

The preparatory training curriculum is designed to introduce children to dance through a combination of ballet, jazz, acrobatics, and tap that focus on improving flexibility, balance, rhythm, and basic motor skills to support early childhood development & cognitive learning. 2024 Adult Summer Intensive

Adult Summer Intensive
Adult Summer Dance Intensive is a two (2) day training and professional development experience for dance educators, coaches, sponsors, and professional dance artists to learn and grow in their personal dance practice and pedagogy.

Tuition for Adult Summer Dance Intensive is $200.

Adult Summer Intensive begins July 1, 2024, and ends on July 2, 2024.

Our intensive provides 48 hours of training in Classical Ballet, Modern technique, Jazz technique, and workshop experiences to enhance dance making, pedagogy, and performance.

Yoga - Combining breathing practices, asanas, and mindfulness, this class helps to increase flexibility, strength, clarity, and balance.

Classical Ballet - This is class is designed to provide fundamental knowledge and skills training in classical ballet vocabulary and technique through studies at barre, center floor, and across floor combinations designed to improve coordination, musicality, flexibility, strength, and endurance.

Modern Technique - This is class is designed to provide fundamental knowledge and skills training in the Lester Horton modern dance technique through focused study on movement vocabulary including flat backs, primitive squat, lateral stretches, release swings, leg swings, deep lunges, and T positions.

Jazz Technique - This class is designed to provide fundamental knowledge and skills training in jazz technique including isolations, leaps, double turns, and high kicks. This class focuses on the development of technique, style, and rhythm through high energy movement combinations.

Choreographing the Classroom - Interactive pedagogy workshop designed to provide dance instructors with a range of teaching techniques, including whole-class and structured group activities, guided learning and individual activities that will impact the learning exchange in teaching methods.

Dance Making & Composition- Interactive choreography workshop designed to provide dance instructors with an understanding the basic choreographic elements & principles including diverse methods of dance-making by tracing the evolution of choreographic thought.

Dance Performance & Repertory - Interactive performance workshop is designed to provide dance instructors with the opportunity to learn and perform dances that represent diverse approaches to dance-making through collaboration with choreographers.

2024 Summer Intensive
Summer Intensive is one (1) week professional training program that is designed to provide Young Professional dancers with the knowledge and skills training to support their careers in the field of dance at large.

Summer Intensive is open to male & female dancers ages 8 -14 years old that have at least one (1) year of dance training & experience.

Tuition for the Summer Academy is $325 and includes Breakfast, Lunch and Snack.

Our intensive provides over 30 hours of training in Classical Ballet, Modern technique, Jazz technique, West African dance, Hip-Hop, Acrobatics, and Choreography & Performance.

Classical Ballet - This is class is designed to provide fundamental knowledge and skills training in classical ballet vocabulary and technique through studies at barre, center floor, and across floor combinations designed to improve coordination, musicality, flexibility, strength, and endurance.

Modern Technique - This is class is designed to provide fundamental knowledge and skills training in the Lester Horton modern dance technique through focused study on movement vocabulary including flat backs, primitive squat, lateral stretches, release swings, leg swings, deep lunges, and T positions.

Jazz Technique - This class is designed to provide fundamental knowledge and skills training in jazz technique including isolations, leaps, double turns, and high kicks. This class focuses on the development of technique, style, and rhythm through high energy movement combinations.

West African Dance - This class is designed to provide fundamental knowledge and skills training in dance techniques from different countries in Africa that will include footwork, singing, drumming, stage presence, costume coordination, dance origins and history.

Hip-Hop - This class is designed to provide fundamental knowledge and skills training in urban street dance culture and rhythmic movement.

Acrobatics - This class is designed to provide fundamental knowledge and skills training in classical dance techniques combined with tumbling elements. This class focuses on the development of skills including forward & backwards roll, backbend, handstands, cartwheel, front/back walk over.

Choreography & Performance - This class is designed to be rehearsal to prepare the student for the performance of choreographic works that will be presented at our Summer Stage concert.
Summer Intensive begins July 8, 2024, and ends on July 12, 2024.
