Creative Movement 2
Creative Movement is a 1-hour class that consists of ballet, tap and beginning acrobatics. The emphasis is on developing locomotion skills, hand-eye coordination and basic dance steps using music and props. These classes are for the youngest beginning dancers.

Ballet is the foundation for all forms of dance. It is an expression of grace and movement. It develops turn-out of the hips through barre work and specific exercises. Emphasis is on musicality, posture, poise, kinesthetic awareness, alignment of the spine, and strengthening of the feet, legs, stomach, and back. It is RECOMMENDED for all students.

Lyrical & Contemporary Dance: Lyrical dance is a mixture of ballet and jazz. It emphasizes the use of emotion and storytelling. Contemporary dance, with interpretive and modern dance stylings, focuses on expressionism, spirals, contract and release, parallelism, symmetric and asymmetrical figures, and improvisation. There is a natural flow and fluidity to this dance style but is not limited to the above stylings.

Jazz is based on the Jazz Movement of the 1920's and expands to today’s modern, pop-culture style. It is a living art form influenced by cultural trends and personalities. Emphasis is placed on isolations, style, technique, music, tricks, attitude, and fun. This style is heavily influenced in ballet technique but set to fast, high-energy music. ADSD also teaches hip hop and jazz funk styles during this class time.

Tap develops rhythm, timing, and stamina, and is RECOMMENDED in the overall training of all dancers. Percussion sounds set to the beat and accents of music are produced by the feet. Great for endurance training and cardio.

Level 4 Pointe/Ballet

Ballet is the foundation for all forms of dance. It is an expression of grace and movement. It develops turn-out of the hips through barre work and specific exercises. Emphasis is on musicality, posture, poise, kinesthetic awareness, alignment of the spine, and strengthening of the feet, legs, stomach, and back. It is RECOMMENDED for all students.

Pre-Pointe is preparation for pointe shoes. Emphasis is on technique, turn-out, and getting the feet and ankles prepared for pointe work.

Pointe is taught to students who are at least ten years of age, who have had four to six years of dance (exceptions can be made due to age and ability), and with the approval of the director. Pointe work is for advanced ballet students prepared for dance in toe shoes.

Sparklers Competition Dance Team: Competitive solo and group dances in all styles for the elite dancers. A great opportunity and must for those wanting to get stronger in their skills, who love to perform, and possibly aspire to join a college dance team, professional team, or become a professional dancer.

Acrobatic Arts
Acrobatic Arts: Dancers at a beginner or intermediate skill level will work on increasing flexibility, contortion work, acrobatic skills, basic tumbling, and rhythmic gymnastics. This is NOT a gymnastics class.

Heels Class: Learn many dance styles while wearing heels (ballroom dance shoes) including: Rockette-style jazz, Broadway jazz, and American and Latin ballroom styles.

Pom Team
Pom Team: A walk-on team offered to students age 5+. Flexibility, strength training, balance, cheer jumps, pom dance, acrobatic tricks/tumbling, and stunt work will be taught. Students will compete in the pom dance category in the spring.
