These classes encourage the joy of movement, creativity, and self-expression.
Children will develop body and spatial awareness, musicality, and the dynamics of moving together as a group.
Terminology and basic steps are introduced and an appreciation of French as the language of dance is developed.

Class Description:

Ballet: (approx. 30min) Establishes basic ballet introductory steps, age-appropriate center work, and spatial awareness while still encouraging joy of movement.

Tap: (approx. 15min) Establishes introductory Tap steps and encourages a new type of movement style!

'24-'25 UPDATE: To maximize our class time, and help the students to GROW in both ballet and tap at an appropriate pace; the pre-school (combo) students will only perform ONE dance/genre per show; for instance, the Winter show may be a "ballet dance" and the Spring show would then be the "tap dance".

Littles Hip-Hop! (ages 4-6)
Littles Hip Hop : for ages 4-6

Hip Hop is more than just a form of dance, it’s a form of self-expression. Time spent in the Hip Hop classroom include warm ups, moving across the floor, style explorations (popping, locking, street, animating, etc.), learning amazing choreography and freestyle circles. These classes are for dancers who like self-expression, physical challenges, and a super fun time! Exercises focus on increasing flexibility and strength, precision and creativity, and most importantly, finding your own style!

**This class is NON-PERFORMING and focuses on Technique (no choreography) the full 10month season. This class is *required* for Ballet 2 students who are also enrolled in Pre-Pointe, or who only completed one term of Ballet 1.

Ballet 2b continues training of ballet vocabulary by establishing more complex material, port de bras, and musicality.

**This class is a PERFORMING class. While we do focus on growing the student's ballet technique and vocabulary, the students are also learning choreography for both the winter and the spring shows during their class period. Ballet 2b students are HIGHLY encouraged to additionally enroll in the "Monday Ballet Technique" (non-performing) to maximize and even expedite their ballet training without the weekly diversion of working on show choreography.

**This class is a PERFORMING class. While we do focus on growing the student's ballet technique and vocabulary, the students are also learning choreography for both the winter and the spring shows during their class period. Ballet 2a students are HIGHLY encouraged to additionally enroll in the "Monday Ballet Technique" (non-performing) to maximize and even expedite their ballet training without the weekly diversion of working on show choreography.

Modern & Tap, Level 1's & 2a | description:
**All students MUST BE enrolled in Ballet (level 1 or level 2a) to be eligible for this elective class.

* 60 minutes / 1x per week

Class Description:

Modern: (approx. 30min) Establishes basic modern/contemporary vocabulary, traveling steps, center work, and spatial awareness while still encouraging joy of movement. Our ballet students LOVE the freedom in modern as it is a bit more "loose" than ballet.

Tap: (approx. 30min) Establishes age/level appropriate Tap steps and encourages a new type of movement style! This class is also great for enhancing our student's RHYTHM skills!

'24-'25 UPDATE: To maximize our class time, and help the students to GROW in both modern and tap at an appropriate pace; the "modern & tap" students will only perform ONE dance/genre per show; for instance, the Winter show may be a "modern dance" and the Spring show would then be the "tap dance".
