Rocky Horror Picture Show Auditions
Since 1975 Rocky Horror Picture Show has been thrilling, chilling, and fulfilling audience members around the world. Now, 46 years later, this iconic movie will be showing for three nights only with a live shadow cast at the historic Richey Suncoast Theatre!

Audition Information
Where: Richey Suncoast Theatre
When: September 13 & 14, 2021
Times: 7pm-9pm
Ages 18+

Actors should prepare a song that shows their vocal range.

Show dates
October 23 @10pm
October 29 @10pm
October 30 @11:30pm

The auditions will be broken into two parts: Music and Movement.

Music: Actors should prepare a song that shows their vocal range, but mostly highlights their ability to perform. Given the nature of a shadow cast, voices likely will not be heard. The energy you bring to the stage will be what stands out!

Movement: Let's do the time warp! We will be performing the time warp as a group to see how everyone moves! Watching the movie prior to auditioning is highly encouraged, but be sure to watch the Time Warp if nothing else!

Feel free to provide a theatre resume and headshot if you have one!

Roles
Dr. Frank N Furter (A Scientist)
A “sweet transvestite” scientist from the planet of Transsexual, located in the galaxy of Transylvania. He is the master of a castle which serves as his laboratory and the setting for the majority of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. He is renowned for his decadence and self-indulgence, which in turn lead to his ultimate downfall.

Brad Majors (A Heroine)
A straight-laced man from Denton, Brad Majors is attempting to visit his old mentor, Dr. Everett V. Scott, with his new fiancee, Janet Weiss, when he stumbles upon Frank-n-Furter’s castle.

Janet Weiss (A Heroine)
A simple-minded, naive, and innocent girl at the onset of the film, Janet Weiss “gives herself over to absolute pleasure” at the castle, despite her recent engagement to Brad Majors.

Riff Raff (A Handyman)
Brother/lover of Magenta and a disgruntled, Transylvanian underling of Dr. Frank-n-Furter, Riff-Raff eventually overthrows his master in order to return to his home planet.

Magenta (A Domestic)
Sister and lover of Riff-Raff, Magenta serves as a maid under Frank-n-Furter and returns at the conclusion of the movie to Transylvania.

Columbia (A Groupie)
An especially lusty Transylvanian, Columbia first falls in love with Frank-n-Furter, then Ex Delivery Boy, Eddie. She is systematically rejected by Dr. Frank-n-Furter, to her utter frustration.

Rocky Horror (A Creation)
Created from scratch in the strange laboratory of Dr. Frank-n-Furter, Rocky Horror came into the world simply to serve as a plaything for his creator. Designed to be blonde, dreamy, and statuesque, Rocky’s knowledge of the world is limited to the purely lustful and sexual. He exists for a very short span of time, during which he has trysts with both Frank-n-Furter and Janet. He reflects Mary Shelley’s classic monster of Frankenstein, who is loved and then rejected by his creator.

Dr. Everett V. Scott (A Rival Scientist)
Dr. Everett Scott, mentor of Brad and Janet and uncle of Eddie, wanders into the castle in search of his nephew and serves as the scientific voice of reason.

Eddie (Ex Delivery Boy)
Eddie from birth is a rotten egg, perpetually finding trouble. He is implied to have had sexual relations with both Dr. Frank-n-Furter and Columbia and seems to have no sense of control or sanity. He rushes to the castle to cause havoc, but leaves a note to his uncle revealing knowledge of the Transylvanians’ dastardly plans. Dr. Frank-n-Furter murders him out of anger.

The Criminologist (An Expert)
Serving as something of a narrator to the story, the criminologist is omniscient and perhaps omnipresent, often appearing between scenes in the comfort of his study to provide explanations or commentary on that fateful night.

Trixie (An Usherette)
Trixie is considered a personification of the The Lips singing "Science Fiction, Double Feature" during the opening credits of The Rocky Horror Picture Show as the lips shown singing belong to the original Usherette, Patricia Quinn. The performance is open to interpretation.

Transylvanians (Groupies)
The Transylvanians are the formally-dressed guests in attendance at Frank N Furtur's unveiling of his creature, Rocky Horror. These characters interact with the audience throughout the show!
