4s in motion is a drop-off program for children 4 years old and older as of September 1st. Each day has a special focus, while incorporating art projects, music explorations, integrated academic subjects and group games with guided independence. The following topics are the focus of each day: (Monday Morning - Math) Monday – Reading, Tuesday – Science in Motion, (Wednesday Morning - Reading) Wednesday – Math, and Friday – Social Studies. A monthly theme will bring together all four days of classes or allow your child to pick which day(s) best meet their interests. Each day your child will enjoy two centers on the subject focus for that day. In addition, two cross curricular centers will reinforce and introduce new skills on other subjects. Guided Reading and Kid Writing are used as part of our Language Arts instruction. We will be having a music class on Mondays and Spanish class on Fridays. The majority of our students leave our 4's program reading, writing, exploring scientific concepts and completing Kindergarten math skills!

NEW: A Kindergarten enrichment program will be offered during the 4's in Motion class. During free play, all students are able to explore numerous learning activities and gross motor centers based on their interests. During centers, our Kindergarten students will elaborate and review skills they are learning in school. Movements, songs and hands-on learning are still the focus for our oldest students. Small group size will allow for personalized attention to help students reach their fullest potential.

They will participate in story time, music class, art projects, and group games during every class. They will also enjoy free play with their friends and explore many engaging educational centers. Small groups are based on ability levels. Children are challenged based on their learning needs.

Through all steps, we focus on grace, poise, control, and fluidity. Ballet is very influential in many other genres. We recommend that all students who take jazz, and contemporary, also take ballet class as it is the foundation of many dance movements

Lyrical is a fusion of ballet, jazz, and modern dance. Lyrical dance portrays emotion through all movements. Technique and telling a story through dance are two of the most important aspects of Lyrical dancing. Class will be featured in Cast A for the recital.

Tuesday Gr. 4+5 Pre Pointe
This 2-year ballet class focuses on the overall strength of dancers' feet and ankles, preparing them for pointe shoes. It is very important to learn correct technique for the most challenging form of ballet dance. Dancers start their pointe training when their bone and muscle development are advanced enough to support the demands of pointe work and minimize injury.

Wednesday Gr. 6-12 Contemporary
Contemporary is a style of dance that breaks away from traditional ballet. More grounded than ballet and often done in parallel, contemporary encompasses many different movement styles, including techniques derived from Horton and Graham. Contemporary dance focuses on strength and versatility as a dancer, often incorporating floor work or improvisation. Class will be featured in Cast C for the recital.

A class for our students to learn and perfect their gymnastic skills; including rolls, cartwheels, handstands, walkovers etc., and are introduced to ways to advance these skills based on individual ability. (exploring ariels, step outs, handsprings...) Classes include work on flexibility, balance, and strength to encourage their progress. Then, using the skills from their acro jazz technique, students partake in blended gymnastic and jazz dance choreography. Class will be featured in Cast C for the recital.

Our 30 minute Hip Hop class focuses on strength and stamina through hip hop movements. Our 30 minute Tap class concentrates on rhythm, musicality, and advancing tap steps. Dancers are expected to show strength in the execution of all skills asked of them, in both class structure as well as their performance. A dancer must complete High School 1 as a prerequisite. All classes include a dance in the recital and will be featured in Cast C of the recital.

The class will still include and bring attention to focus on their flexibility, balance, strength and jazz dance technique, concluding with blended gymnastic and jazz choreography.
