Hip Hop & Lyrical - Summer
This class will be 30 minutes of Hip Hop and 30 minutes of Lyrical. Students must have ballet and jazz experience to participate.

Hip-hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. It includes a wide range of styles primarily breaking which was created in the 1970s and made popular by dance crews in the United States. You must be enrolled in ballet and jazz to participate in Hip Hop.

Lyrical is a style of dance that combines technique work from both ballet and jazz. It is performed to music with lyrics so that it inspires expression of strong emotions the choreographer feels from the lyrics of the song. This style concentrates on an individual approach and expressiveness of such emotions as love, joy, hurt, or anger.

Tap is a form of dance that is a favorite of many. Rhythms are produced with the feet and complimented by the rest of the body. Tap terminology is taught, as well as learning how to listen, reproduce and create various sounds and rhythms.

Ballet Technique - Senior - 8:00-9:15
Ballet is the foundation of all dance and involves the entire body and mind. It consists of a highly stylized progression of exercises and movement combinations. Ballet training increases strength, flexibility and rhythm. Proper terminology and alignment are emphasized.

This class is required for competition students. Placement is determined by instructor.
