Parents and Caregivers have fun and engage with their children (ages 2-3) and each other through dance, rhythms and music. Designed to inspire movement through observation, dance and creative exploration, these classes focus on engaging children to find expression through movement.

Parents and Caregivers are expected to attend and participate with their children in this class. (1 adult per child.) *Children must be 2 years old by the first day of class*

Attire for adults: Please plan to wear clothes that are comfortable and do not restrict movement (ie: leggings, t-shirt or tank top, loose-fitting shorts). Canvas ballet shoes are highly recommended. Socks are acceptable in place of ballet shoes but may be more slippery. Outside footwear will not be permitted in the studio.

A minimum of 3 students is required to run this class. Dancers may register on a rolling basis, please contact office@portlandballet.org.

Community Ballet (Ages 7-12) SPRING
Community Ballet with Portland Youth Dance & Portland Ballet

Community Ballet is a FREE group class for children ages 7-12 (Dancers must be 7 by September 5). This class is a collaboration between Portland Youth Dance and Portland Ballet, aiming to enrich the community through free beginner-level ballet classes to children in need in the Greater Portland area. Classes incorporate technique, stretching, musicality, and choreography. This class runs in 11-week sessions throughout the year.

Explore the joy of learning dance through stories of the many bugs and butterflies that fill our world! Join the School of Portland Ballet for fun-filled week of colorful creations! This ballet camp will explore the many meanings, moods, and moments of the rainbow. We will be adventuring into the uniqueness of different colors while learning about our own uniqueness in the process! Each day will focus on a different color, using what we learn we will see how the colors we interact with each day can influence our dancing!

Students will become charming and mischievous fairies as they learn the story of A Midsummer Night's Dream and perform the fairy dance from that ballet. In the 'Four Seasons' camp, students will explore the moods of different times of the year, dancing to Vivaldi's score and finding shifts in colors and rhythms! 5 students must be registered for this program to run.

Young Dancer Summer Camps are intended for 5-7 year olds (entering Pre-Ballet or JD1), and will include a daily ballet class, story, a short snack break, creative movement, and art. In 'Heroes and Villians Camp', students will explore storytelling through dance as we learn about the Heroes & Villains of classic ballets. We'll get to know the shining princes and princesses, wicked enchanters, and magical fairies from some of our favorite tales. Dancers will become superheroes of their own story through crafts and dancing.
