Progressing Ballet Technique is designed specifically to address the muscle groups that are crucial to perform ballet technique safely and effectively. This is a wonderful tool to add to our student’s education in ballet. The program specifically addressed weaknesses that are very common to students and are more difficult to tackle. These weaknesses can take a long time to address when the students is only taking ballet. Most of the exercises are performed on an exercise ball or with a resistance band.

This class is designed to develop creativity, coordination, basic dance movement, and good ballet class skills in young dancers. In this class, dancers learn the basics of dance and movement and gain coordination, flexibility and strength appropriate for their age. Dancers also learn how to dance with the music (quickly or slowly) and different qualities of dance movement (sharp or smooth for example). Most importantly, however, the dancers learn to enjoy dancing and moving while using their imaginations.

Balletics for Boys Ages 6+
The Balletics class is a unique ballet class created for young male athletes who participate in a variety of sports including football, basketball, hockey and soccer. Athletes who attend DCSA’s Balletics class will develop agility, flexibility, speed, strength, coordination and mental focus that will help them to advance in the sports they love! The exercises performed in ballet help to strengthen and condition the same muscle groups needed for quick footwork, transfers of weight, and jumping. Increased flexibility and ankle strength help to prevent injuries. In addition, ballet helps to train athletes mental focus under pressure as they work to perform precise movements.

Pilates non-impact strengthening exercises are performed on mats and sometimes use fitness props such as therabands, circles and light weights. Pilates Mat is an excellent avenue to strengthen the core, tone muscles and improve flexibility, balance, posture and alignment white promoting a feeling of physical and mental well-being.

Folklorico Boys & Girls Ages 5-11
Folklorico Clásico is a beautiful form of dance that allows the dancer to use classical ballet arm movements, high kicks , and quick paddle turns. Beginning students develop coordination, balance and weight shifting while learning body awareness. Girls and boys are taught the basics of body awareness, alignment, and posture. Students are taught the fundamentals of classic ballet stretches and the waltz, along with basic folklórico footwork that serve as a foundation for advancement into other classes. Students are expected to know the difference between right and left, and how to properly use the 5 basic steps in Folklorico dance. Intermediate and Advanced students build strength, stamina, balance, posture, grace and discipline. All students are introduced to different regions, costuming and music in traditional Mexican Folklorico dance; while more advanced students learn more intricate technique and choreography.

Traditional Irish solo stepdances fall into two broad categories based on the shoes worn: hard shoe (or heavy shoe) and soft shoe (or light shoe) dances . There are four soft shoe dance styles: the reel, slip jig, light jig and single jig (also referred to as hop jig). Tino, will concentrate on the Treble reel hard shoe style. This style of dance is done in hard shoes. Michael Flatley “ The King of Irish dancing “ broke the mould of traditional Irish dancing by incorporating upper body movement and creating edgy rhythm patterns that departed from the traditional. We will be entering into the world of art with this innovative new art form where modern Irish portrays the fluid movement of dance.

The afternoon portion of our winter intensive will include contemporary and conditioning training. The cost for the afternoon session alone is $200 for all four days. Ages 7 and up are welcome to attend.

Progressing Ballet Technique 7-19 years old
Progressing Ballet Technique is designed specifically to address the muscle groups that are crucial to perform ballet technique safely and effectively. This is a wonderful tool to add to our student’s education in ballet. The program specifically addressed weaknesses that are very common to students and are more difficult to tackle. These weaknesses can take a long time to address when the students is only taking ballet. Most of the exercises are performed on an exercise ball or with a resistance band.

This class is designed to develop creativity, coordination, basic dance movement, and good ballet class skills in young dancers. In this class, dancers learn the basics of dance and movement and gain coordination, flexibility and strength appropriate for their age. Dancers also learn how to dance with the music (quickly or slowly) and different qualities of dance movement (sharp or smooth for example). Most importantly, however, the dancers learn to enjoy dancing and moving while using their imaginations.

Balletics for Boys Ages 6+
The Balletics class is a unique ballet class created for young male athletes who participate in a variety of sports including football, basketball, hockey and soccer. Athletes who attend DCSA’s Balletics class will develop agility, flexibility, speed, strength, coordination and mental focus that will help them to advance in the sports they love! The exercises performed in ballet help to strengthen and condition the same muscle groups needed for quick footwork, transfers of weight, and jumping. Increased flexibility and ankle strength help to prevent injuries. In addition, ballet helps to train athletes mental focus under pressure as they work to perform precise movements.

Strengthening for Dancers Ages 12-19
Pilates is a precision-based group of exercises which first focus on the core (abdominal and back muscles) and then branch out to strengthen and tone the entire body. Pilates non-impact strengthening exercises are performed on mats and sometimes use fitness props such as therabands, circles and light weights. Pilates Mat is an excellent avenue to strengthen the core, tone muscles and improve flexibility, balance, posture and alignment white promoting a feeling of physical and mental well-being.

Folklorico Boys & Girls Ages 5-11
Folklorico Clásico is a beautiful form of dance that allows the dancer to use classical ballet arm movements, high kicks , and quick paddle turns. Beginning students develop coordination, balance and weight shifting while learning body awareness. Girls and boys are taught the basics of body awareness, alignment, and posture. Students are taught the fundamentals of classic ballet stretches and the waltz, along with basic folklórico footwork that serve as a foundation for advancement into other classes. Students are expected to know the difference between right and left, and how to properly use the 5 basic steps in Folklorico dance. Intermediate and Advanced students build strength, stamina, balance, posture, grace and discipline. All students are introduced to different regions, costuming and music in traditional Mexican Folklorico dance; while more advanced students learn more intricate technique and choreography.

Traditional Irish solo stepdances fall into two broad categories based on the shoes worn: hard shoe (or heavy shoe) and soft shoe (or light shoe) dances . There are four soft shoe dance styles: the reel, slip jig, light jig and single jig (also referred to as hop jig). Tino, will concentrate on the Treble reel hard shoe style. This style of dance is done in hard shoes. Michael Flatley “ The King of Irish dancing “ broke the mould of traditional Irish dancing by incorporating upper body movement and creating edgy rhythm patterns that departed from the traditional. We will be entering into the world of art with this innovative new art form where modern Irish portrays the fluid movement of dance.
