Beginning Ballet (Monday, HolyX hall, Miramar)
(4 to 5 year olds, 1 class/week) A 1/2 hour class which uses imagination, props and interesting music, while starting to think about line, shapes, rhythms, patterns and use of space. This class prepares the building blocks for RAD Pre Primary in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Parents/Caregivers are welcome to stay and observe. Uniform requirements: The children may wear anything they would like to and are able to move freely in. Ballet shoes are a bonus but are not compulsory.

6-7yr olds (1x 1 hour class/week) - Jazz uses ballet technique basics as well as introducing jazz fundamentals such as body isolations etc. Students will study barre work, centre practice, jumps, and a build up a small dance sequence. Our jazz classes are geared to be age appropriate. We are proud to offer students exams in AJDANZ syllabus in 2019 and the class will be involved in the end of year production. Uniform Requirements: Available from Gubbs's Jazz & Ballet (Wakefield St, Wellington) Black lycra singlet top leotard, black bike pants and black jazz shoes. Hair should be done in a high ponytail.

Stretch & Strengthen (9-11yrs, Worser Bay LSC)
45min class/week for young dance students aged 8-11yrs. Based on Movitae dance pilates strengthening and stretching exercises. Highly recommended for Grade 3 ballet and above, and other dance genre students who are serious about achieving their full potential. This class is a chance for teachers to address individual students flexibility and strengthening areas. We will be using some basic equipment such as mats & bands which will be provided. Fees are $60.00 as an add on class (otherwise the single 3/4 hour class fee of $140 applies).

(5 years by 1st September, 1x 45min class/week). Students begin wearing a ballet uniform and work towards participating in a presentation class with their teacher later in the year as an introduction to ballet exams. They study elements of classical ballet and also imaginative movement sequences. Uniform requirements: Girls – Lavender leotard and chiffon skirt. Pink ballet socks and pink ballet shoes with elastic. Boys – Well fitted white t-shirt and black ballet shorts (loose fitting style). White socks and white ballet shoes.

Junior Contemporary 2 (Worser Bay LSC)
8-9yrs (1x 1hour class/week) In junior contemporary we will use simple combinations with a focus on where movements come from for good basic technique, study the use of breath, fall and catch etc. It is a great opportunity for students to expand their movement repertoire and compliments students ballet or jazz classes. Uniform Requirements; Black below the knee leggings or bike pants and a WBS JCT-shirt ($25.00) available in our 'online store' in your parent portal or at classes. Socks or bare feet as required by the teacher. Hair should be tied up out of the face.

(6 years by 1st September, 1x 1 hour class/week) Preparing students for their first ballet exam. They learn a dance to perform in pairs which children really enjoy. The RAD syllabus promotes musicality, the early foundations of classical ballet and the opportunity to perform all their hard work. Uniform requirements: Boys – Well fitted white t-shirt and black ballet shorts (loose fitting style). White socks and white ballet shoes. Girls – Lavender leotard and chiffon skirt. Pink ballet socks and pink ballet shoes with elastic.

(1x 45min class/week) This class is to build Grade 5 students strength and flexibility, lower leg & foot strength towards pointe work in the future. Readiness for pointe work will be determined through a test with a dance physiotherapist and will be advised on an individual basis.

(11 yrs by 1st September, 2 x 1 hour classes/week) Students at this level are studying and expanding their classical technique, musical interpretation and performance quality. Uniform requirements: Boys – White short-sleeved leotard, navy blue stirrup tights. White socks, white ballet shoes and character shoes. Girls – WBS navy blue leotard and waist elastic, optional matching chiffon skirt, ballet tights, pink ballet flats with ribbons (compulsory for exam). Character skirt and character shoes.

(8 yrs by 1st September, 2 classes/week) A 55min class. Further develops the skills learnt in Grade 1. Students begin barre work and are learning more of the fundamental ballet steps. Uniform requirements: Boys – Well fitted white t-shirt and black ballet shorts (loose fitting style). White socks, white ballet shoes and character shoes. Girls – WBS light blue leotard and waist elastic, pink ballet socks and pink ballet shoes with elastic. WBS character skirt and low heeled character shoes.

Uniform requirements: Boys – Well fitted white t-shirt and black ballet shorts (loose fitting style).White socks, white ballet shoes and character shoes. Girls – WBS light royal blue leotard and waist elastic, ballet tights, pink ballet flats with elastic (ribbons just prior to exams), WBS character skirt and cuban heeled character shoes.

RAD Grade 4 (10 yrs by 1st September, 2x 1 hour classes/week) Students broaden their vocabulary with exercises and dances that contain multiple components and are studied in detail before putting together. Uniform requirements: Boys – White short-sleeved leotard, navy blue stirrup tights. White socks, white ballet shoes and character shoes. Girls – WBS burgundy leotard and waist elastic, ballet tights, pink ballet flats with ribbons (compulsory for exam). Character skirt (NO character shoes at this level, we study the tarantella danced in ballet flats)

(3-4 year olds, 1 x 1/2 hour class/week) Natural motor movements using varied types of music, imagination, expression and props in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Parents/Caregivers are welcome to stay for each class. The emphasis is on participation and fun! Uniform requirements: The children may wear anything they would like to and are able to move freely in. Ballet shoes are a bonus but are not compulsory.
