PRE-PRIMARY C aka Combo (Ballet and Jazz)
This class is full
Dancers will learn all about music, movement, coordination, spatial relations, and the basics of ballet and Jazz that will hopefully lead to many fun-filled years of dancing and self-expression. Classroom focus will be on appropriate etiquette, respect for others, and self-confidence, as well. When teaching your children, the instructors will follow the basic principles of combo classes: understanding space, time, body, and movement concepts. This class is recommended for dancers who are in kindergarten and are ready for a more structured class than Creative Movement. Dancers will perform various stretches, utilizing props such as balls, resista-bands, towels, and books to increase flexibility and an understanding of how their muscles coordinate to help them dance. They will spend time at the ballet barre and in the center of the room learning the positions of the arms and feet, as well as, learning basic ballet steps. Dancers will also be taught to travel from one corner of the room to the next by way of basic turns, jumps, and leaps.

Ballet Primary Level A (ABT method)
This class is for students straight out of combo classes. Beginning Ballet dancers will begin class with floor stretches specific to developing strength in their feet. Dancers will then go to the ballet barre and learn basic steps and positions, which will be combined to create simple combinations. They will be taught about maintaining correct posture, which in ballet, involves everything from the feet up through the top of the head. After leaving the barre, dancers will continue stretching, working the hamstrings, calves, quadriceps, and back muscles. They will learn the names of the steps and what they mean in the French language. Dancers will attempt new jumps and execute them with more repetition. They will begin learning waltz and character steps, as well as, more complicated turns. Class time will also be spent learning basic floor barre skills. The Beginning Level is for dancers new to ballet or for dancers moving up from Pre-Ballet. Returning students should always refer to their current to determine the appropriate fall class to take. *The difference between Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Classes is based on the level of detail offered by the instructor regarding how to execute proper ballet technique. The higher the level, the more serious and structured the class. The Advanced Level requires a dancer who can absorb and follow a series of instruction for the length of the class. It also requires a dancer who is well-behaved and attentive in class.

Lyrical 1
It’s a style of dance that combines classical techniques with acrobatic elements. While all dance is physical, this form is particularly athletic and has unique choreography due to its use of acrobatics in a dance environment. Acro classes will not only work to improve your child`s confidence and coordination, but they also have serious strength-building properties as well. You child may not even realize they’re building up muscle, but great upper- and lower-body strength is needed in acro dancing. The acrobatic elements and aerial stunts that are common in routines require performers to have the muscle strength to support themselves, as well as partners sometimes. Acro dance lessons will help your little one strengthen their muscles, often without them even realizing it. Students on Acro B will need to have their cartwheels, back walk-over, splits. Returning students will need to see our studio director for placement.

Contemporary dance is geared towards technical dancers who have been working inside a Ballet class for several years. 3NM students will need to be enroll in Ballet and Jazz before they can enroll in our contemporary classes. Teacher recommendation require. What is Contemporary dance? Brought to the forefront of popular culture by dance pioneer Merce Cunningham, contemporary dance changed much of what people thought about dance before it existed. Cunningham did not believe in the importance of the straight line or straightforward narrative in dance, as was so important in ballet and classical styles. Instead, Cunningham’s dance stressed unpredictability, expression, and freedom, while simultaneously maintaining a strong focus on technique. One important and unique aspect of contemporary dance is that it rejects the importance of the legs that many traditional dance styles stress. Instead, contemporary dance focuses on movement of the torso, which enables much more fluid, languid movement, rather than sharp and pointed movements.

Pointe (ABT method)
Pointe technique is the part of classical ballet technique that concerns pointe work, in which a ballet dancer supports all body weight on the tips of fully extended feet within pointe shoes. A dancer is said to be en pointe when the dancer's body is supported in this manner, and a fully extended vertical foot is said to be en pointe when touching the floor, even when not bearing weight. Pointe work is performed while wearing pointe shoes, which employ structural reinforcing to distribute the dancer's weight load throughout the foot, thus reducing the load on the toes enough to enable the dancer to support all body weight on fully vertical feet. Extensive training and practice are required to develop the strength and technique needed for pointe work.[1] Typically, dance teachers consider factors such as age, experience, strength, and alignment when deciding whether to allow a dancer to begin pointe work.[2]
