Students with NO previous dance experience register for BALLET ESSENTIALS I.
This class introduces the fundamentals of ballet in both an encouraging and disciplined atmosphere. Attention is paid to the basic positions, proper body alignment, and developing movement sequences through coordination of the arms and head. Helping the student to progress quickly to age appropriate goals, this class is perfect for the recreational dancer or the late starter. Like all of our open classes, this class is subject to the needs of the overall attendees of each class. The instructor will evaluate when a student is ready to move into a school level if the student is interested in that goal. This class meets twice weekly. This class will participate in the school performance in the spring.*

*This class will not perform in the Nutcracker.

Students who have demonstrated physical readiness will go on pointe in this level as to be determined by the Artistic Director.

Barre
Combined with elements of Pilates, yoga, and strength training, Barre uses ballet-inspired moves to target large, lower-body muscle groups, while also adding in elements of core and upper-body strength training. The class is low impact and adaptable to any age and fitness ability. While moves are ballet-inspired, no dance background is necessary.

Join us for Stretch on Tuesdays and Thursdays! Through whole-body stretching focusing on legs, hips, back, and arms as well as occasional myofascial release using foam rollers, you’ll leave class feeling renewed and refreshed. Stretch will increase flexibility, range of motion, and will conclude with a relaxation segment.
