Junior Stage
The Junior Stage Program Year one builds on the foundations established in Jumpstart, while furthering the 8-11 year old student’s knowledge of the world of acting and theatre. The year-long program is split into two terms, theory and production. The theory term lays the foundation for acting and dancing principles, as well as beginner stage management and script study practices. The production term applies these skills to the rehearsal and performance of a one-act play. This program prepares students for further study in the performing arts, particularly other Junior Programs and the Intermediate Musical Theatre Program. Through individual and group participation, students will benefit from increased confidence, clarity of speech, thought and emotion, personal and social awareness, and the ability to problem-solve and think creatively. Final class in December will be open to family to watch. The production will be presented as part of the Annual Spring Festival in May.
