(45 minute class/1x per week) A combination of classical ballet, tap and musical theatre dance skills develop excellent coordination, balance, and rhythm through fundamental dance movement. Our syllabus offers creative themes, motivating music, and colorful props to enhance the engaging learning environment we offer. Foundational techniques will be introduced in this course including barre work and basic ballet terminology. Elements of pantomime, as it relates to classical ballet narration, will also be incorporated in this class. Music, movement, and creativity will continue to be explored in Dance Discovery to best suit the developmental needs of students and ensure an efficient transition from Dance Discovery to Level I. Dance Discovery students are guided by an experienced dance professional so that our studio class is organized, well managed, and productive each week as our skills become more cumulative during the season. An informal, in-studio performance for family in December helps to prepare our youngest dancers for performing on stage. Students participate in our Student Showcase Matinee in the spring at the Harrell Theatre.

Little Steps Ballet-W500p (Boys/Girls: Ages 3-4)
Little Steps Ballet (1x per week for 30 mins) This foundational class encourages a child’s sense of creativity and imagination, while introducing them to the fundamental elements of movement. Students will gain awareness of musicality and rhythm while exploring the concepts of space, time, force, movement, body, and form. Age-appropriate classroom activities develop gross motor skills, strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance while introducing students to the structure, etiquette, and discipline of dance in a fun and encouraging environment. Students will learn classical ballet terminology and practice exercises specifically designed to prepare them for future ballet training.
Students must be potty trained. All students are required to wear our Little Steps PreSchool Dance Class Dress Code that is sold in our CAA in-studio boutique. An informal, in-studio performance for family in December helps to prepare our youngest dancers for performing on stage. Students participate in our Student Showcase Matinee in the spring at the Harrell Theatre.

(1 Hour class/1x per week) Students in this course will train in classic jazz dance, tap dance, musical theater, and age appropriate hip hop dance styles. We will be using the nationally recognized Dance Masters of America tap training syllabus and the world-class Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Syllabus. Students will have a full-body warm up designed to improve their flexibility, strength, and coordination in the center of the studio and at the barre. Weekly combinations in the center floor area and across the floor help students to build their confidence and technical abilities. All class music is age appropriate. These students will perform in our annual Student Showcase in May at the Harrell Theatre in Collierville. (45-minute classes/2x per week) The syllabus covers intermediate level classical ballet technique at the barre, center floor, and across-the-floor for students with previous dance experience or permission of the Artistic Director. Combinations of steps develop in complexity throughout the season as the students' dance skills improve, and students will begin pre-pointe exercises to strengthen the feet, legs, and back muscles required for ballet in the more advanced levels. Level 3 and 4 classical ballet students will perform in the Collierville Ballet's Nutcracker in December and in our annual Student Showcase in May at the Harrell Theatre. Pointe training is incorporated into this class and begins with work at the barre and progresses to the center when students are ready based upon instructor evaluation. Students will be given a pre-pointe evaluation by the Artistic Director to determine their readiness for pointe training. Character dance, Pilates Conditioning and Flexibility Training, and beginning Classical Variations are taught throughout the season also. Classes 3x per week - Advanced ballet students move deeper into their artistry and mastery of classical ballet techniques at the barre, center and across-the-floor using combinations of steps from the intermediate/advanced level of our ballet syllabus. Pointe work is integrated into our weekly class training schedule. Students will study classical ballet variations from well-known ballets, character dance and participate in conditioning Pilates classes on a monthly basis. A minimum of class three days per week is required at this level of classical ballet training. Students may audition to join the Collierville Ballet to gain more performance experience including the full-length Nutcracker at the Harrell Theatre (4+ performances) and this class will perform in the Showcase at the end of the dance season in May at the Harrell Theatre ( 2 performances ).

Using safe, padded weapons, our BattleMasters will teach ages 6-12 basic blade movement/handling skills, footwork, patterns, and block sets during regular classes. In addition to physical training, regular battle games are conducted to challenge the learners and give all the training meaning. In addition to the physical activities, emphasis will be placed on developing the high virtues of Discipline, Humility, Honor, and more as students progress through the levels of Initiate, Squire, Apprentice, and finally Knight.

Young Blades is a class especially for our younger fencers who wish to learn to skills and techniques necessary to become a competitor! This class offers conditioning and stretching, coordination and balance management, endurance and stamina, tactics and game theory concepts as well as opportunities for self-confidence building, achievement, and the skill of learning how to lose.

This Little Tigers Karate is the perfect introduction to the martial arts for our youngest students. This is an introductory Trial class in the sport of Fencing for ages 9-99+, male/female. It is taught by Coach Thomas Knowles, National Fencing Finalist and Certified Professional Coach/Director, who has been teaching fencers since 1992.

This 1.5 hrs long class introduces students to fencing history and presents sound foundational positions, instills proper movements, and begins teaching correct blade skills. LTF students also get to handle all of the equipment we use when fencing. Most fun of all, LTF students get a chance to Fence during their FIRST class! This class will answer most, if not all, questions that beginners have by introducing the basics and bringing it all together so that by the end of the class, the student WILL KNOW if this is something they'd like to develop, train, and ultimately, compete in - as a personal sport hobby.

Anime & Comics (ages 9-12) (1/hour class/1x/week) This is a layered drawing class for beginning students. We will be combining the stylistic considerations of the anime-look with the story-telling techniques of comic framework. Want to work on your anime drawing skills or learn a different approach to developing a style? In this course, you will go through a process of reinforcing sketching skills, building detail to create unique characters, experimenting with inks, color markers, and more! In this course, you will go through a process of reinforcing sketching skills, building detail to create unique characters, experimenting with inks, color markers, and more! Explore cartoon drawing techniques to better understand how to convey comic style or develop ideas for a character and story line. You will use storyboard techniques to plan and develop a series of drawings that you'll sketch and complete with inks. All materials are provided.

Mixed Media Fine Arts (Ages 11-17)
This is a mixed media fine arts class for students ages 11-17 with some previous art experience. This course will begin with basic drawing and sketching techniques to help students gain better understanding of form, shape, texture, perspective, and color. Students will also work in various paints such as watercolor, acrylic, and oils. Other media including oil and chalk pastels, mosaic, pen and ink, linoleum print, and other media will be included throughout the season of this class. All materials are included in the class fee. Students must wear clothing favorable for the fine arts working nature of this class due to the use of art materials that can stain and leave permanent marks etc. Students have the option of participating in the gallery shows in December and the Spring.

Using safe, padded weapons, our BattleMasters will teach ages 6-12 basic blade movement/handling skills, footwork, patterns, and block sets during regular classes. In addition to physical training, regular battle games are conducted to challenge the learners and give all the training meaning. Little Steps Dance (Ages 3-4) June Session
Little Steps Ballet (1x per week for 30 mins) This foundational class encourages a child’s sense of creativity and imagination, while introducing them to the fundamental elements of movement. Students will gain awareness of musicality and rhythm while exploring the concepts of space, time, force, movement, body, and form. Age-appropriate classroom activities develop gross motor skills, strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance while introducing students to the structure, etiquette, and discipline of dance in a fun and encouraging environment. Students will learn classical ballet terminology and practice exercises specifically designed to prepare them for future ballet training.

Summer2023: Little Tigers Karate - Ages 4.5-6: F530
This Little Tigers Karate is the perfect introduction to the martial arts for our youngest students. Our Little Tigers program will help your student to improve their gross motor skill coordination, balance, and instill a sense of self-confidence as they learn the martial arts skills in our curriculum. All of our syllabus is age appropriate and students will learn age appropriate kata skills, drills, and self-defense techniques. Our class is disciplined but engaging with exercises and activities that help the students to learn while having a good time too! Princess 'Tutu Cute' Camp (July 17-21))
Our Princess 'Tutu Cute' Adventure Campers (ages 4-7) will LOVE this super popular summer camp week. Each day is a new theme for our princesses to enjoy! Our daily activities will include: ballet class, arts and crafts, a family-friendly, pop-hop, jazzy dance class, a relaxing & quiet story time, we will learn about Princess etiquette and manners, discover our elegant Princess Dress Up Trunks filled with brand new, gorgeous costumes, and enjoy plenty of games too! Our final camp day ends with a real Princess Tea Party & Celebration that is simply amazing! Each camper will take home their keepsake Princess Pack at the end of the week also. Our Youth Performing Arts Adventure Campers (ages 8-12) will LOVE this super popular summer camp week. Learn To Fence (LTF) is where ALL new fencing students begin!

This is an introductory Trial class in the sport of Fencing for ages 9-99+, male/female. It is taught by Coach Thomas Knowles, National Fencing Finalist and Certified Professional Coach/Director, who has been teaching fencers since 1992.

This 1.5 hrs long class introduces students to fencing history and presents sound foundational positions, instills proper movements, and begins teaching correct blade skills. LTF students also get to handle all of the equipment we use when fencing. Most fun of all, LTF students get a chance to Fence during their FIRST class! This class will answer most, if not all, questions that beginners have by introducing the basics and bringing it all together so that by the end of the class, the student WILL KNOW if this is something they'd like to develop, train, and ultimately, compete in - as a personal sport hobby.
