Dance Discovery (Ballet & Tap Ages 4-5)
Dance Discovery is for ages 4-5 years old. Dance Discovery syllabus introduces our young dancers to classical ballet movement, creative movement and tap dance foundational skills. We use age appropriate music, colorful props, along with creative and imaginative stories to enhance our classroom experience. We encourage the students to develop their coordination skills, self-discipline, and flexibility. Our Dance Discovery class is a wonderful opportunity for a young student increase their self-confidence and develop a joy for dancing. Little Tiger Karate (M 445-530: ages 4-8)
Tiger Cubs Karate (Ages 4-8) is a 45-minute class designed for children ages 4-8 years of age. This class is for new students to Karate and focuses on developing martial arts discipline, fundamental skills, and simple patterns. Using games and challenges, students will memorize Japanese words, develop basic coordination, balance, and learn proper karate stances/movements. All students are required to wear our Little Tigers Karate T-shirt and/or karate gi (uniform) which can be purchased in our studio shop area after enrollment. Level 2 Ballet and Tap is a classical ballet and tap dance class for students ages 5 - 7 years old. Combinations of steps are introduced throughout the season as the students' skills improve. Students will develop their rhythm and coordination skills in a classroom environment that encourages creativity through the use of imaginative music and creative stories. BattleMasters (M 6-7pm: ages 6-up)
Using safe, padded weapons, our BattleMasters will teach ages 6-up basic blade movement/handling skills, footwork, patterns, and block sets during regular classes. In addition to physical training, regular battle games are conducted to challenge the learners and give all the training meaning. In addition to the physical activities, emphasis will be placed on developing the high virtues of Discipline, Humility, Honor, and more as students progress through the levels of Initiate, Squire, Apprentice, and finally Knight. All students are required to wear our BattleMasters Class Dress Code T-shirt and/or gi (uniform) which can be purchased in our studio shop area after enrollment. Acting - Beginning Level
Our younger actors training classes feature a dynamic combination of cold reading, on-camera technique, monologues, scene study, and improvisation. The Academy’s library of scripted material contains thousands of audition pieces from film, television, theater, commercials and industrial films. Emphasis is also placed on the art of auditioning—empowering our students to get more callbacks and book more roles! Collierville Arts Academy promotes bold, honest and creative risk-taking, to make each actor’s work unique. That’s the kind of work that gets remembered by agents and casting directors. Also, included in our ongoing classes are opportunities to learn about character development, and the “business" of show business—including head shots, resumes, comp cards, agents and casting director submissions, to help you reach your goals in the show business industry.

Level 3 Ballet
Level 3 classical ballet is for students with some previous dance experience (at least one season of ballet training). Our Level 3 syllabus covers classical ballet technique at the barre, center floor and across the floor. Combinations of steps build on their complexity throughout the season as the students' skills improve. Students explore creative story telling with their dance and learn to incorporate pantomime skills, acting, and creative expression through their ballet dance as they develop over time. Character dance, flexibility training, and choreography are taught throughout the season also. Our syllabus is rooted in the syllabus of the Royal Academy of Dance based in London. This class has a Required Dress Code Policy for this class which is purchased at the time of enrollment for this class. This is a seasonal class that has an informal in-studio performance in December and a stage performance opportunity in our Annual Student Showcase in May 2019. This class may also audition for age appropriate roles in the Collierville Ballet production of The Nutcracker which is performed in December 2018 at the Harrell Theatre in Collierville. Competitive conditioning will be a common theme as fencers work to eliminate negative technical issues while solidifying successful methods of attack and defense. Includes Open Fencing from 8-8:30pm. Jazz, Tap & Musical Theater Int/Adv. Levels
Jazz, Tap & Musical Theater Int/Adv. Level dancers will work at the barre, center and across the floor in various jazz dance, tap, and musical theater styles. This class will use more complex stage direction, aspects of dance showmanship, musical theater, hip hop jazz and classic jazz skills to open a new dimension of creativity and excitement to their dance. Int. Lyrical & Jazz Dance
Lyrical and Jazz Class syllabus include barre, center, across the floor work, and combinations in a variety of lyrical and jazz dance styles. Students will work on progressions, level changes, leaps, and turns throughout the season to build their strength and technical ability. We use age appropriate music and choreography that inspires the dancers. Parents may observe the class through our observation windows. Solid color leotards, pink or skin tone tights, skin tone ballet/jazz/lyrical shoes required for this class. Warm up wear, shorts, skirts etc. maybe worn in this class at the discretion of the instructor. Long hair must be worn away from the face in a pony tail or bun for the class. Ballet - Beginning Technique
An open level classical ballet dance class offers students a great technique class that offers students work at the barre, center and across the floor and allows their skills to build over time. Students will also use proper dance terminology and learn pieces of choreography during the classes. Students with beginning and intermediate dance training are welcome to take this class. Core Strengthening, flexibility training are included in our syllabus for this important foundational class. Dancers need to wear proper dance/exercise attire and ballet shoes to this class.

This Tap & Musical Theater Dance class is a terrific upbeat tap dance class at a comfortable beginning level of technique. (Intermediate level students will find this class to be very enjoyable also since the instructor can add steps to combinations to challenge those students with a bit more experience too! Students may wear dance attire or exercise attire to the class. Tap shoes are required. Performance opportunities will be offered but not required of students attending this class time. This class is full
Fine Arts Discovery Class - (ages 6-9) This is a delightful introduction to the fine arts for our youngest artists ages 6-9. We will explore all different types of media throughout the season so students will have terrific experience using pencils, chalks, oil pastels, watercolors, acrylics, clay, mosaics, fabrics, beads, papers, crafting and much more. A wide variety of projects will give the children experience working on traditional, abstract, and dimensional art in a variety of themed lessons throughout the season. Students should bring a smock to class or wear clothing suitable for this art class since we will be working with paint and other materials that can be messy at times.

Drawing - Int/Adv. (ages 12+) - This is a short course aimed at developing sketching and drawing skills for young artists. We use a variety of objects and subjects to spark the artists creativity and imagination while using traditional media such as pencil, charcoal, color pencils, etc. Students learn the techniques of shading, highlighting, textures, pressure techniques, and more. They will create many sketches and finished drawings on subjects that range from still life, landscapes and animals. All materials are provided. Students should understand that this class will be working with various art media and should wear clothing that is appropriate for the class or bring a smock with them to the class.

Beg. Level Youth Ballet, & Jazz (ages 8-12) (60 minute class 1x per week) Students will learn proper ballet and jazz dance technique at the barre, center and across the floor using combinations of steps from our beginning level of our youth dance syllabus. This is a great starting place for older beginning students who really want to learn how to dance in a comfortable and age appropriate class setting. Level 4 Ballet (Ages 9.5-12)
Level 4 Ballet is a classical ballet class for intermediate level dancers ages 9 - 12 years old. Pre-pointe (no pointe shoes needed) work is introduced to strengthen the dancer's feet, ankles, legs and back. Character dance, flexibility training, and choreography are taught throughout the season also. Students begin to learn about the classical repertoire from the great ballets and learn to incorporate pantomime skills, acting, and creative expression needed for dancing those particular ballets. Level 5 Ballet
Level 5 Ballet is a classical ballet class for intermediate level dancers. Learn To Fence! is a one-time introductory trial class for ages 10-adults. This trial class is taught by Coach Thomas Knowles, National Fencing Finalist and Certified Professional Coach/Director. Students will learn some history, basic positions, movements, blade skills and get a chance to Fence! This class will answer all of your questions and inspire you to become a great fencer! **PLEASE NOTE: This is a one-time class session only and you must select your date by CLICKING ON SCHEDULE TRIAL LINK BELOW. Dance With Me is a terrific parent assisted class time for pre-school age children 2-3 years of age. Our toddlers to initiate their own ideas and explore their creativity. Our class offers great outlets for your toddler's energy through singing, dancing, and instrument play. Parents and caregivers enjoy meeting and interacting with others who are also experiencing the joys and complexities of these busy years with a toddler. What do we do in Dance With Me Class? - Explore movement concepts and participate in musical interactions with objects and other people - Discover instruments can make sounds and experience musical concepts - Identify and learn about using our voice to imitate sounds - Singing songs with language patterns that explore rhythm, speech sounds, syntax, and rhyme Skills & Benefits of our class offer toddlers an increased alertness, self-control, and ability to regulate their own movements, develop strong muscles for posture and balance with improved coordination and locomotor skills, fine motor skills, and hand strength. Tiger Cubs Karate (Ages 4-8) is a 45-minute class designed for children ages 4-8 years of age. This class is for new students to Karate and focuses on developing martial arts discipline, fundamental skills, and simple patterns. Using games and challenges, students will memorize Japanese words, develop basic coordination, balance, and learn proper karate stances/movements. All students are required to wear our Little Tigers Karate T-shirt and/or karate gi (uniform) which can be purchased in our studio shop area after enrollment. Illustration Fine Art - A class combining the stylistic considerations of illustration drawing and painting techniques with the storytelling techniques commonly found in illustration. Wanting to work on your drawing skills or learn a different approach to developing a style? In this course, students will go through a process of reinforcing sketching skills, building detail to create unique characters, experimenting with inks, color markers, and more! Explore drawing techniques to better understand how to convey their illustration style and develop ideas for a character and story line. Students will use storyboard techniques to plan and develop a series of drawings that they will sketch and complete with inks. All materials are provided.

Our syllabus is rooted in the syllabus of the Royal Academy of Dance based in London; however, at the advanced levels our dancers train in RAD method, Vagonova (Russian style), and Cecchetti (Italian style) of ballet, so they are well-rounded and understanding of advanced techniques, terminology, and style. Parents may observe the class through our observation windows. This class has a Required Dress Code Policy for this class which is purchased at the time of enrollment for this class. This is a seasonal class that has an informal in-studio performance in December and a stage performance opportunity in our Annual Student Showcase in May 2019. This week long camp includes creative movement activities with various themes and basic ballet dancing skills too. Campers enjoy dance games, make theme related arts and crafts, enjoy a story time, and learn about proper Princess manners for a tea party too! Parents and Friends are invited to a special in-studio mini-performance and reception on our last day of the camp. This is a very popular full day, week-long camp for girls only. Camp hours are 9:00am to 3:00pm Monday through Friday. We do NOT provide early drop off or late pick up times. This camp is only open to girls ages 4.5-8 years of age. This camp costs $125 per child. There is a 10% discount for a second sibling who participates in the camp. Half of the camp fee is due at registration, and the other half of the camp fee is due by May 30th. After June 1st, paid camp fees are non-refundable for any reason. If you are unable to participate in a camp you have registered for, you may request credit for the camp be applied to your Collierville Arts Academy account for other summer camps, classes or for the fall session of classes. NOTE: No previous dance experience is needed for these camps. Students may wear whatever they like in our Children’s Dance Camps: Dance wear of your choice, fun costumes (that you can move in) or play clothing. Our Performing Artists' Camp is terrific fun for those students who enjoy dancing, acting, music, arts and crafts and more. This week long camp includes creative movement activities with various themes and musical theater dancing skills too. Campers enjoy games, make theme related arts and crafts daily. Our hilarious acting workshops offers tons of laughs while all we are learning important theater skills, developing self-confidence, and more! Campers have the opportunity to make their own TV Commercials and choreograph their own mini-musical for video during the week long camp. This is a popular camp, so reserve your space early! Parents and Friends are invited to a special in-studio mini-performance and reception on our last day of the camp. This is a very popular full day, week-long camp for boys and girls ages 8-14. Camp hours are 9:00am to 3:00pm Monday through Friday. We do NOT provide early drop off or late pick up times. This camp costs $125 per child. SummerDANCE Workshop
Our SummerDANCE week long dance camp is packed full of amazing classes, top-professional faculty and master teachers teaching several classes daily in ballet, pointe, jazz, modern, and musical theatre. Students have the chance to take part in workshops for developing their own choreography, nutrition, injury prevention, audition preparation, acting for dancers, dance history, daily conditioning for strength and flexibility. Students will receive a dance journal for the week to make notes in and to hold important papers from the various workshop sessions. *Auditions for the Collierville Ballet Company will take place on the Friday morning of the SummerDANCE week. Dancers ages 9-21 may audition for open positions in the Collierville Ballet Company. Please visit the Collierville Ballet website at www.colliervilleballet.org for more information on auditions. Students will have a piece of choreography set on them by one of our guest master teachers for an informal in-studio performance for family and friends on our last day of the session. Parents and Friends are invited to a special in-studio mini-performance and reception on our last day of the camp.
