Little Tigers Karate Class is designed for children ages 6-8 years of age. This class is for new students to Karate and focuses on developing martial arts discipline, fundamental skills, and basic kata patterns taken from Shotokan and other styles. Students will build their physical stamina, develop excellent coordination, balance, and learn proper karate stances/movements. All students are required to wear our Little Tigers Karate T-shirt and/or karate gi (uniform) which can be purchased in our studio shop area after enrollment. Using safe, padded weapons, our Jedi Masters will teach ages 6-up basic blade movement/handling skills, footwork, patterns, and block sets during regular classes. In addition to physical training, regular battle games are conducted to challenge the learners and give all the training meaning. In addition to the physical activities, emphasis will be placed on developing the high virtues of Discipline, Humility, Honor, and more as students progress through the levels of Initiate, Youngling, Apprentice, and finally Knight. Self-Defense - Ladies Only
Self-Defense Workshop for Ladies ages 15+. A terrific workshop that introduces women to the concepts of self-defense. This is a great way for women to feel more confident in their ability to become more self-aware in their surroundings, how to handle a potentially dangerous situation, and learn how to prevent an attack against their person. Students will learn basic verbal and physical skills to prevent and confront an assailant in a variety of situations. This is not a comprehensive self-defense course, but rather a very good introduction for students who need to learn some basics before continuing their training in more advanced self-defense and martial arts techniques. Students should attend wearing comfortable exercise clothing, athletic shoes that allows for freedom of movement. Notes for the workshop are provided.

Little Steps Ballet Ages 3-4

Acting for Beginners
A wonderful introduction to theatre acting for beginning level students who are interested in learning how to do 'cold' reading for scripts, develop their understanding of basic stage direction, and to learn how to prepare a short script for an audition. We also make our own TV Commericals during this summer session. Students will receive their own TV Commercial on DVD to keep at the end of the summer session. This short course can be repeated several times since we offer new material with each short course throughout the season.

The Academy’s library of scripted material contains thousands of audition pieces from film, television, theater, commercials and industrial films. Emphasis is also placed on the art of auditioning—empowering our students to get more callbacks and book more roles! Collierville Arts Academy promotes bold, honest and creative risk-taking, to make each actor’s work unique. That’s the kind of work that gets remembered by agents and casting directors. Level 3 Ballet (Ages 7-10)
Level 3 classical ballet is for students with some previous dance experience (at least one season of ballet training). Our Level 3 syllabus covers classical ballet technique at the barre, center floor and across the floor. Combinations of steps build on their complexity throughout the season as the students' skills improve. Students explore creative story telling with their dance and learn to incorporate pantomime skills, acting, and creative expression through their ballet dance as they develop over time. Character dance, flexibility training, and choreography are taught throughout the season also. Our syllabus is rooted in the syllabus of the Royal Academy of Dance based in London. This class has a Required Dress Code Policy for this class which is purchased at the time of enrollment for this class. This is a seasonal class that has an informal in-studio performance in December and a stage performance opportunity in our Annual Student Showcase in May 2019. This class may also audition for age appropriate roles in the Collierville Ballet production of The Nutcracker which is performed in December 2018 at the Harrell Theatre in Collierville. This class will use more complex stage direction, aspects of dance showmanship, musical theater, hip hop jazz and classic jazz skills to open a new dimension of creativity and excitement to their dance. This is a seasonal class that has an informal in-studio performance in December and a stage performance opportunity in our Annual Student Showcase in May 2019. Dance With Me Class
Dance With Me is a terrific parent assisted class time for pre-school age children 2-3 years of age. Our toddlers to initiate their own ideas and explore their creativity. Our class offers great outlets for your toddler's energy through singing, dancing, and instrument play. Parents and caregivers enjoy meeting and interacting with others who are also experiencing the joys and complexities of these busy years with a toddler. What do we do in Dance With Me Class? - Explore movement concepts and participate in musical interactions with objects and other people - Discover instruments can make sounds and experience musical concepts - Identify and learn about using our voice to imitate sounds - Singing songs with language patterns that explore rhythm, speech sounds, syntax, and rhyme Skills & Benefits of our class offer toddlers an increased alertness, self-control, and ability to regulate their own movements, develop strong muscles for posture and balance with improved coordination and locomotor skills, fine motor skills, and hand strength. Solid color leotards, pink or skin tone tights, skin tone ballet/jazz/lyrical shoes required for this class. Warm up wear, shorts, skirts etc. maybe worn in this class at the discretion of the instructor. Long hair must be worn away from the face in a pony tail or bun for the class. Core Strengthening, flexibility training are included in our syllabus for this important foundational class. Dancers need to wear proper dance/exercise attire and ballet shoes to this class.

Open Level Int./Adv. Level Ballet Class offers dancers a classically based barre, center, and across the floor technique class. Occasionally, the class will enjoy pilates conditioning exercises, floor barre, and flexibility training as part of the class time also. Any solid color leotard, pink or skin tone tights, skirts/shorts and other warmup wear may be worn for this class. Ballet shoes are required for this class. Long hair must be worn off the neck and away from the face.

Tiger Cubs Karate (Ages 4-6) is a 30-minute class designed for children ages 4-6 years of age. This class is for new students to Karate and focuses on developing martial arts discipline, fundamental skills, and simple patterns. Using games and challenges, students will memorize Japanese words, develop basic coordination, balance, and learn proper karate stances/movements. All students are required to wear our Tigers Karate T-shirt and/or karate gi (uniform) which can be purchased in our studio shop area after enrollment. Students will develop their rhythm and coordination skills in a classroom environment that encourages creativity through the use of imaginative music and creative stories. Fine Arts Discovery
Fine Arts Discovery Class - (ages 6-9) This is a delightful introduction to the fine arts for our youngest artists ages 6-9. We will explore all different types of media throughout the season so students will have terrific experience using pencils, chalks, oil pastels, watercolors, acrylics, clay, mosaics, fabrics, beads, papers, crafting and much more. A wide variety of projects will give the children experience working on traditional, abstract, and dimensional art in a variety of themed lessons throughout the season. Students should bring a smock to class or wear clothing suitable for this art class since we will be working with paint and other materials that can be messy at times.

Using safe, padded weapons, our BattleMasters will teach ages 6-up basic blade movement/handling skills, footwork, patterns, and block sets during regular classes. In addition to physical training, regular battle games are conducted to challenge the learners and give all the training meaning. In addition to the physical activities, emphasis will be placed on developing the high virtues of Discipline, Humility, Honor, and more as students progress through the levels of Initiate, Squire, Apprentice, and finally Knight. We use a variety of objects and subjects to spark the artists creativity and imagination while using traditional media such as pencil, charcoal, color pencils, etc. Students learn the techniques of shading, highlighting, textures, pressure techniques, and more. They will create many sketches and finished drawings on subjects that range from still life, landscapes and animals. All materials are provided. An open level jazz dance class offers students a great technique class that offers students work at the barre, center and across the floor and allows their skills to build over time. Students will also use proper dance terminology and learn pieces of choreography during the classes. Students with beginning and intermediate dance training are welcome to take this class. Pre-pointe (no pointe shoes needed) work is introduced to strengthen the dancer's feet, ankles, legs and back. Iron Mat Pilates Fitness
Join our Iron Mat Pilates Fitness Workout Group for weekly pilates based mat class with free weights. The class is designed to be very low impact to the body but focuses on developing proper use of the core muscles to improve posture, body alignment, and overall physical strength. The use of free weights allows us to incorporate more upper body muscles into the overall workout as well. A terrific way to tone and strengthen the whole body and a great workout for men and women. We provide all the equipment for the class including mats, free weights, resistance bands etc. Clients should wear exercise wear, athletic shoes for the workout. If you want to bring your own mat or hand weights you certainly can.

Dance With Me is a terrific parent assisted class time for pre-school age children 2-3 years of age. Our toddlers to initiate their own ideas and explore their creativity. Our class offers great outlets for your toddler's energy through singing, dancing, and instrument play. Parents and caregivers enjoy meeting and interacting with others who are also experiencing the joys and complexities of these busy years with a toddler. Using safe, padded weapons, our BattleMasters will teach ages 6-up basic blade movement/handling skills, footwork, patterns, and block sets during regular classes. In addition to physical training, regular battle games are conducted to challenge the learners and give all the training meaning. In addition to the physical activities, emphasis will be placed on developing the high virtues of Discipline, Humility, Honor, and more as students progress through the levels of Initiate, Squire, Apprentice, and finally Knight. All students are required to wear our Jedi Academy Class Dress Code T-shirt and/or gi (uniform) which can be purchased in our studio shop area after enrollment. Level 3 Ballet (Ages 7-10)
Level 3 classical ballet is for students with some previous dance experience (at least one season of ballet training). Our Level 3 syllabus covers classical ballet technique at the barre, center floor and across the floor. Combinations of steps build on their complexity throughout the season as the students' skills improve. Students explore creative story telling with their dance and learn to incorporate pantomime skills, acting, and creative expression through their ballet dance as they develop over time. Character dance, flexibility training, and choreography are taught throughout the season also. Our syllabus is rooted in the syllabus of the Royal Academy of Dance based in London. This class has a Required Dress Code Policy for this class which is purchased at the time of enrollment for this class. This is a seasonal class that has an informal in-studio performance in December and a stage performance opportunity in our Annual Student Showcase in May 2019. This class may also audition for age appropriate roles in the Collierville Ballet production of The Nutcracker which is performed in December 2018 at the Harrell Theatre in Collierville. Int/Adv Fine Arts Class
Int/Adv Fine Arts Class - (ages 10-up) Fine Arts students will explore all different types of media throughout the season so students will have terrific experience using pencils, chalks, oil pastels, watercolors, acrylics, clay, mosaics, fabrics, beads, papers, crafting and much more. A wide variety of projects will give the students experience working on traditional, abstract, and dimensional art in a variety of themed lessons throughout the season. Students should bring a smock to class or wear clothing suitable for this art class since we will be working with paint and other materials that can be messy at times.

Youth Jazz & Tap (Ages 7-10)
Youth Jazz and Tap Dance is for students ages 7 - 9 years old. Our jazz and tap dance syllabus covers jazz and tap dance techniques at the barre, center floor and across the floor. Combinations of steps build on their complexity throughout the season as the students' skills improve. Students will learn jazz dance isolations, progressions, and various styles of jazz dance movements throughout the season also. Tap progressions, combinations in a variety of musical styles make this an upbeat and active class for the dancer. Age appropriate music and choreography is used throughout the season for classes and choreography. This class has a Required Dress Code Policy for this class which is purchased at the time of enrollment for this class. This is a seasonal class that has an informal in-studio performance in December and a stage performance opportunity in our Annual Student Showcase in May 2019. Beg Ballet Technique
Ballet for older beginning students offers a great foundation class for teens and adults wanting to study classical ballet. Students will work at the barre, center and across the floor as their skills build over time. Students will also begin learning proper dance terminology. Core Strengthening, flexibility training are included in our syllabus for this foundational class. Dancers need to wear proper dance/exercise attire and ballet shoes to this class.

Level 7 Ballet & Pointe Adv. Technique
Level 7 Ballet is a classical ballet class for intermediate/advanced level dancers ages 15-21 years old. Our Level 7 syllabus further develops the advanced dancers' use of classical ballet techniques at the barre, center floor, across the floor, variations, and routines. Character dance, flexibility training, and choreography are taught throughout the season also. Our syllabus is rooted in the syllabus of the Royal Academy of Dance based in London; however, at the advanced levels our dancers train in RAD method, Vagonova (Russian style), and Cecchetti (Italian style) of ballet, so they are well-rounded and understanding of advanced techniques, terminology, and style. Parents may observe the class through our observation windows. This class has a Required Dress Code Policy for this class which is purchased at the time of enrollment for this class. This is a seasonal class that has an informal in-studio performance in December and a stage performance opportunity in our Annual Student Showcase in May 2019. This class may also audition for age appropriate roles in the Collierville Ballet production of The Nutcracker which is performed in December 2018 at the Harrell Theatre in Collierville. This level may also audition to become a member of the Collierville Ballet Sr. Company. Fusion Kickboxing Workout
Fusion Kickboxing Fitness Workout for men and women. We use western and eastern boxing and martial arts techniques to tone and sculpt the whole body. We start every class with a terrific full body yoga/pilates based warmup to prepare your entire body to perform at its best during your workout. Then we add some free weight exercises for the major muscles and the core and then we move into a complete boxing workout on and off the bags. Students will learn western boxing skills such as the jab, cross, hook and uppercut for a great upper body workout resulting in increased muscle endurance and tone. From the Eastern Martial Arts traditions, students will learn and utilize kicks, strikes, and blocks for an unparalleled workout. This workout is open to all fitness levels and can be adjusted to suit the clients individual needs. Taught by certified personal trainers and martial arts professionals.
