Jazz/Hip Hop 1
Recommended for Elementary School students. This high-energy, fun dance class teaches the basics of jazz, hip hop, and musical theater movement while exploring different funky styles. Students will learn important skills such as front and side kicks, jazz squares, pivot turns, single pirouettes, front leaps, six steps, and freezes, all while discovering the joy and energy of hip hop, pop, funk, and musical theater music. This class will perform in the June Cabaret.

Acting for Elementary and MS
Recommended for Elementary and Middle School students. This class will expand on skills learned in Beginner Acting by building on the fundamentals and introducing acting technique in a fun and collaborative atmosphere! Your students will have all the support they need to play and perform in an atmosphere of trust. We will expand on the basics, exploring stage directions, blocking techniques, ensemble-building, characterization, and improvisation. Classwork will also include scenes and mini-monologues. This class will perform pieces in the June Cabaret.

Jazz/Hip Hop 2
Recommended for Middle School and Advanced Elementary students. This class expands on the concepts explored in Jazz/Hip Hop 1 by pushing students to increase their strength, flexibility, musicality, and use of character and expression within their dancing. Dancers will learn pirouettes (singles and doubles), work on more difficult leaps and kicks, build strength, and explore different styles of hip hop. Students will perform in the June Cabaret.

Recommended for High School students. This class expands upon the skills learned in Tap 1 and 2 with more advanced steps, such as pullbacks, wings, and toe stands. Musical Theater 2 is a class for Middle School and High School students who are hoping to improve their acting and singing skills. Students will be challenged to prepare monologues and solos while delving deeper into their characters. This class is wonderful for the student who is looking to continue theater in college and beyond! Students will perform scenes and/or songs in the June Cabaret.

Recommended for rising K-3rd graders. This class will work on theater skills for young actors, building towards a spring musical production. Students will learn blocking, choreography, and music for Winnie the Pooh, KIDS, to be performed March 15th and 16th. They will then continue working on their musical theater skills to perform new scenes, songs, and dances in the June Cabaret. All students welcome!

The spring production will be performed May 16-18, 2019.

Improv, dance, and music games encourage students to think quickly, problem solve, and work together. A fun class to wrap up the year for the Rising Stars Division!
