While jazz music is great to listen to, it’s even better to dance to! Our dance classes emphasize musicality and coordination, body alignment, rhythm, and stylization. Jazz uses bold, dramatic movements including body isolation's and contractions. By following their teacher’s instructions, they will be enhancing their ability to listen and follow what they are told. They will be learning proper dance technique such as isolation's of the body, improving performance quality and developing rhythms and patterns. If they have just begun their dancing career, they’ll learn that the more attentive they are, the better they will become, and this will help with their self-confidence as well. Our class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with traditional jazz movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolation's, across-the-floor progressions, combinations and choreography.

In general, tap is a rhythmic combination of sounds using the toes and heels while wearing shoes fitted with metal taps. It is honestly one of the most fun classes a dancer can take! While we all tap our feet to a song that we like, in tap, the dancer creates even more sound while combining specific moves and techniques.
Dancing for Joy offers multiple tap dancing classes for children of all skill levels, even if they are brand new to dance. You can rely on our incredible staff to encourage them to tap their way to success.
It is a great workout that provides multiple health benefits and helps teach them about the importance of living an active lifestyle. Tap also encourages them to expand their creativity when performing and also teaches self-discipline, poise, and grace!
