Jazz dance incorporates several vital elements contributing to its dynamic and expressive nature. These elements include syncopated rhythms, isolation, flexibility, and high-energy movements. The second part of the class is devoted to tap. The tap technique is introduced, and all aspects of the tap shoe are worked to create different sounds. Terminology and counting are the emphases to facilitate their patterns and weight changes required for alternate footwork. Children continue to build patterns from the basic shuffle. Heelwork begins after they have mastered the basics. You must take a ballet class to take any Jazz class.
