Imaginative directive, inspiring music and creative explanations of technique keep dancers engaged in their ballet studies. Dancers begin to understand the organization of a classical ballet lesson: thorough warm-up, center floor combinations, and diagonal floor patterns. The ballet bar is introduced as a tool for developing strength, flexibility and coordination. Summer ballet is required to advance into Ballet II. Dancers are strongly encouraged to participate in the American Academy of Ballet Performance Awards. Prerequisites: A minimum of one year in a pre-dance program. The child’s capacity to receive constructive criticism is important and a more mature attention span is necessary. |

Ballet 2 Thur
Ballet 2, 2-3x per week This pivotal level focuses on incorporating strength, alignment and ballet knowledge to support the dancers’ preparation for pointe work. Pre-pointe work is introduced and practiced at this level. Muscle memory through repetitive conditioning in anticipation of pre-pointe is a focus. Dancers enjoy a full length, traditionally structured classical ballet class concentrating on introduction to French terminology, positions and technique. Understanding the regime of a traditional ballet class, dancers may now begin to focus on enjoying the execution of technique. We encourage dancers to express emotions and musicality through the execution of their movements. Dancers now begin to utilize the ballet barre and center combinations as an integral part of their warm-up, muscle strengthening, and stretching. A ballet journal is required for this class for note taking. Summer ballet is also a requirement to remain in Ballet II. Dancers are required to participate in the American Academy of Ballet Performance Awards. Pre-Pointe Pre-pointe is offered to our Level II dancers and is designed to prepare them for the study of pointe work. This class focuses on strengthening and understanding the proper placement and turn-out necessary for pointe. The teacher evaluates each student individually and addresses any issues that may be a potential problem for future pointe work. Each student is carefully evaluated before acceptance onto pointe. Pointe is only an option when proper placement, strength and technical ability have been achieved. Medium strength therabands are required and can be purchased in the Boutique. Progressing to pointe is by teacher recommendation only. |

Dancers enjoy grande jumps and diagonal movements. Challenging center floor work and turns are introduced. Pantomime and theatrical techniques associated with this performing art are introduced. A ballet journal is required for this class for note taking. Acceptance at this level is based on a combination of physical maturity, self-control and mastery of the concepts that are given in our Ballet I through Ballet 2/pre-pointe curriculum. This class consists of a 60-minute technique class and a mandatory 30-minute pointe class. Attendance is strictly enforced and required three times per week. Summer ballet is also a requirement to remain in Ballet 3. Dancers are required to participate in the American Academy of Ballet Performance Awards.
