DAUI is CLOSED for the week of Thanksgiving for all classes and dance company rehearsals. Classes typically resume on the Monday following the holiday. The studio is also closed for Christmas and Spring Break weeks in accordance with the VBCPS closing calendar.

Suitable for dancers ages 5-10+ with prior dance or dance-related experience. Suitable for dancers ages 7-13+ with prior dance or dance-related experience AND Teens with limited or no dance experience. DO NOT SELECT THIS CLASS OPTION IF YOU ONLY WANT YOUR CIII DANCER TO TAKE BALLET & TAP or HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT HE/SHE IS NOT YET READY FOR JAZZ; select the Combination III - Ballet & Tap ONLY class instead.

Pre-Company: Petite & Novice Levels
This 60 minute class combines instruction in ballet, tap and jazz movement. It is a pre-competitive level class where students learn essential terminology, basic ballet and tap barre movement, and across-floor and center floor instruction in ballet, tap, and jazz. In addition, students who are selected for this class work on style, confidence, stage presence and choreography that will prepare each dancer to eventually compete locally. This mid-level class is for CII and CIII dancers with experience who want to fit in additional weekly dance instruction. Typically suitable for enthusiastic and dedicated dancers ages 6 - 9 with placement approval by the director. NOTE: This class begins in October and will meet THREE TIMES PER MONTH. Class will not be held on holiday weekends; on months where there is no holiday, the day off will be noted on the calendar in advance. This class is ideal for students with a STRONG attention span and students who would like to fit in an additional day of dance each week. This is an ideal opportunity for dancers who are interested in eventually becoming members of our studio's competition team. Students are expected to take this class in addition to a weekday CII or CIII class. THIS IS A SUPPLEMENTAL CLASS AND SHOULD BE TAKEN IN CONJUNCTION WITH A WEEKDAY CII OR CIII CLASS. In order to take this class without the prerequisite class, you must receive approval from Miss Sonya. NOTE: Students who have completed for two or more seasons are not required to take this class but may opt to participate to fit in additional dance time.

DASL Dance Company
Classes incorporating conditioning, technique, and choreography for civic and competitive dance opportunities. Dancers at the novice, apprentice and full-company level are selected after participating in a parent meeting and student audition held in late September or early October. Those selected will participate for a minimum of one hour on three Saturday's a month, starting in mid-October, with most Intermediate/Senior choreography taking place in Thursday's following the Technique class. Dancers who are competition-ready will rehearse for 1 - 4+ hours dependent upon age, focus, discipline and how many routines the dancer is selected to participate in or understudy. Details are provided at the parent meeting and are included in the company contract. Placement in the dance company is at the discretion of the director; dancers who have already participated do not need prior authorization. $15.00 of your monthly fee will be used towards entry fees and/or costumes for competition. NOTE: Friday rehearsals are a possibility but will be avoided whenever possible and are typically used for solos, duets, trios, or Novice level routines. Girls: Leotard, ballet tights, well-fitted ballet slippers/or point shoes, hair swept up and back off face and in bun.

Boys: White t-shirt, black tights/shorts, well-fitted ballet slippers.

Dancers should bring a water bottle. Valuables and jewelry should be left at home or with a parent or guardian.

NOTE: This is a closed audition, so parents are expected to leave after dropping off your dancer. Please return five minutes before the conclusion of your dancers audition.

Those chosen for the cast will be notified on the same day by the end of the audition; A mandatory Parent Meeting for those offered roles will be held immediately upon the end of auditions.

An additional fee will be due on November 15th for canvas ballet slippers (all participants) and a nude camisole leotard (anyone who did not perform last season) to wear under each costume. These items must be purchased through Miss Sonya to ensure that all dancers have matching attire. If your dancer has a nude camisole leotard, it must be approved by Miss Sonya BEFORE November 1st, or one will be ordered. Boys are required to have white or black tights (determined by costume), a dance belt, and white or black ballet slippers (determined by costume). Please note that all fees are non-refundable.
