Pointe Class Open age
A fast-paced pointe technique class covering the Pre-Elementary Pointe syllabus and other performance work. Students must sit an audition to gain entry into this class. Prior pointe training is not essential but the dancer needs to have suitable strength and flexibility through the legs and ankles to manage the pointe shoes.

Adult Beginner Ballet (Bubs Welcome)
Ballet is an emotionally and physically enriching experience and fantastic way of toning and shaping the body. This beginner class will teach you the basics and keep you moving while you develop your ballet skills. Kat is a skilled dancer and teacher who can tailor the class to your personal physical needs, removing such elements as jumping or rotation if required. Wear comfortable clothes for moving, such as leggings and a top. It is recommended that you wear ballet shoes to avoid slipping. These can be purchased from us after your free trial lesson for $20 or at a dance shop for around $40. Don't feel shy - everyone begins somewhere. You can bring your bubs and tend to them as needed throughout the class.

With entry by audition, this class is for highly talented children who can represent our school in competitions and community performances. Children must display strong dance technique (most often acquired through ballet training) and excellent stage presence. We are willing to take children on potential with the expectation that they will work hard to reach performance standard.

This class offer 5 to 8 year olds the chance to experience 3 different styles of Performing Arts. The first 30 minutes teaches children the Level 2 ballet syllabus and performance work. Students then enjoy developing their vocal technique and singing songs from popular musicals such as Annie or Matilda. They finish up with 20 minutes of Hip hop and Jazz dance. The fun and varied nature of the class is well suited to new Preps up to Grade 2 students. If your child is interested in just one or two of the sections contained in the class, you can enrol in these for a lesser fee. For example. 30 mins ballet $96; or Singing & Hip hop for $120 or Ballet and singing for $120 (please contact Kat to arrange enrolment)

Ballet Open Class Teen and Adult
Open ballet classes offer different choreographic material every week including barre and centre work. They are a good workout for the brain and body. If you cannot attend regularly, this class is a good option as you will not be missing out on cumulative dance material. This pay as you go lesson is a fast-paced open class for teens and adults who can manage an elementary level of ballet. The class would also suit accomplished dancers from other styles who wish to strengthen their ballet technique. If you are not sure whether the standard suits you, drop in for a trial lesson.

After a year of this class, children who enjoy the balletic style may wish to transfer to one of the exam classes to further their skill development.

This vocal group for Grade 3 to 6 children (from any school) offers students the chance to develop skills in singing in parts while maintaining pitch, vocal techniques, microphone technique, performance charisma, stage presence and simple movement. The repertoire includes age appropriate Pop and Music Theatre repertoire. These students perform often and become skillful, confident and relaxed performers.

This class for Prep to Grade 2 students at Alphington Primary School offers a solid foundation in singing training. Kodaly based song games help students to develop a strong sense of pitch while having fun. Students learn about elements of music such as dynamics, rhythm, melody, simple part singing and vocal training such as correct sound production and use of the voice. They perform repertoire from child appropriate Pop, Musical Theatre, Film and other Contemporary music.

Song and Dance at SAS Prep to Grade2
This class for Prep to Grade 2 students at Saint Anthony's School combines basic training in dance and singing. The class is broken onto 20 minutes of dance training with warm up, travelling and elevation work; 20 minutes of singing training with pitch training (Kodaly based song games) and vocal techniques. Students then combine their learning in song and dance routines to child appropriate Pop, Music Theatre and film music.
