Modern and Jazz Level I is ideal for students in the first grade and second grade with no previous dance experience. All dancers are encouraged to also take Ballet I to complete a well-rounded dance curriculum.

Ballet V-VI Monday
Dancers who are eligible to take Ballet V must have completed one year of Ballet IV or the equivalent. Ballet V vocabulary includes expectations in flexibility, an intermediate barre, extensions in center, pirouettes from different positions, strong allegro work, and pre-pointe preparations. Ballet V dancers are strongly encouraged to take ballet twice per week and take a modern/jazz class.
Ballet VI vocabulary includes intermediate barre work, 90 degree or higher extensions in center adagio, double pirouettes, and strong intermediate level allegro work. Ballet VI dancers who are en pointe are required to take two ballet classes per week. Modern and Jazz are also recommended to complete a well-rounded dance curriculum.

Dancers will strengthen their gross motor skills and explore movement in a fun, supportive environment.

Modern and Jazz II-III Tuesday
Modern and Jazz II is ideal for students who have completed one year of Modern/Jazz I or for students in 3rd or 4th grade who have no previous dance experience. Dancers will begin class with a floor warm up including conditioning of the arms and core. Class will work on balance, pirouette preparations, jump mechanics, and simple combination exercises. Dancers are encouraged to also take a ballet class to complete a well-rounded dance curriculum.

Adult Ballet Basics (Levels I-IV)
No experience necessary. Adult Ballet Basics involves a full barre work, simple center adagio, single pirouettes, and basic petite and grand allegro. This class is taught in a fun and laid back environment. Ballet slippers are recommended. Leotards are not required.

Jazz time will include jazz walks, single pirouettes, and various leaps. Dancers are encouraged to take at least one ballet class per week to complete a well-rounded dance curriculum.

Pointe work will be performed at the barre and in center. Join other dancers in spreading the love of dance throughout our community! Dancers will participate in 6 community events throughout the 2023-2024 Season including parades, festivals, and more. Dancers must be in levels III or higher to participate.
Requirements:
• Take at least one Ballet, one Jazz, and one Hip-Hop class each week.
• 1 hour of rehearsal each week
Dues $380 (2 Payments of $190, non refundable, September 1st, November 1st) includes rehearsals, simple costumes, and performances.

Dancers will practice floor work to strengthen the core and arm muscles, practice moving effectively at different levels, and will prepare for extensions in parallel and turned out positions. Dancers will practice single pirouettes, leaps, and simple combinations at the end of class.

This year's theme will have a special "You can be anything" theme as we study all the styles and history of jazz dance. Dancers will feel empowered as they help create costumes, choreography, and props for their jazz pieces on Friday's performance. Jazz Dance Camp dress code is consistent with CDT school dress code.
