Acro Dance (Ages 6-8)
Acro dance is the beautiful fusion of the artistic motion of dance and athleticism of acrobatics. Acro dance blends seamlessly classic dance styles with acrobatic movement. It is important to note that Acro dance is not the same as gymnastics and there is a need to teach Acro skills differently than Gymnastics. Acro dance is performed on a hard stage without mats. Gymnasts have the advantage of a sprung floor allowing much more difficult tumbling. Consider the Gymnastics Floor routine. While the floor routine in gymnastics often uses some dance technique to showcase gymnastic moves, dance is definitely secondary. Acro dance is the opposite. Solid dance training in ballet and jazz is essential to the success of the acro dancer. Unlike gymnastics, acro dancers need to flow in an dout of skills to create seamless transitions into dance choreography. If your dancer loves dance and gymnastics, this is the class for them!! Requirements: Hair in a bun; leotard and booty shorts or tight capri leggings; no tights or shoes needed.
