The Steadfast Tin Soldier Participation
Dance Fremont students in levels Preparatory II and up are invited to audition for our winter production of excerpts from A Steadfast Tin Soldier, A Story Ballet and The Nutcracker on Saturday, September 10th, 2022. Our winter performance opportunity is a treasured experience for generations of Dance Fremont students, and we highly encourage students to participate!

Please note that this year, due to theater availability we are scheduled to perform the weekend of December 17-18, one week later than usual. Make winter break travel plans accordingly!

In order to have the best possible experience, dancers and their families should consider the time commitment carefully ahead of time. The 2022 Performer Packet will be finalized after the audition, and we will not have information about the schedule for specific levels until after the audition and casting have been completed. Generally speaking, dancers will rehearse on Saturday afternoons, and dancers in levels 5 and 6 will also have Thursday evening rehearsals. Because of limited rehearsal time, absences beyond 1 may result in a dancer not performing; rehearsals attended via Zoom do not count as an absence. Required rehearsals - no absences allowed - include the Sunday after Thanksgiving, the last Saturday before the show, and all theater rehearsals the week of the performances.

Spring Repertory Workshop Full-Participation Option
Dance Fremont is excited to announce additional performance opportunities for dancers in levels 4 and up in our Spring Repertory Workshop!

This is a great opportunity for dancers to be coached by locally acclaimed dance professionals in styles ranging from ballet to modern and beyond; have more performance opportunities; be challenged and grow as a dancer; and have a lot of fun dancing!

Choreographers will start rehearsing mid to late-January; not all dancers will necessarily be called to every rehearsal. The dances in the Spring Repertory Workshop will be the featured performances in April events celebrating our old and new spaces, and will have other performance opportunities TBA (please excuse our COVID-induced uncertainty about some details!)

Like with Steadfast/Nutcracker, rehearsals will be on Saturday afternoons, between 1:45 and 6:00. Dancers in levels 5 and 6 may run material briefly on some Thursday evenings (not a full rehearsal).

The half-participation option commits the dancer to approximately 1-2 hours of rehearsal each Saturday, dancing in 1 to 2 pieces.

The full-participation option (levels 5 and 6 only) commits the dancer to approximately 2-4 hours of rehearsal each Saturday, dancing in 3 to 4 pieces.

There will be an audition on Saturday January 15, 4:00-5:15. As with the Steadfast Tin Soldier audition, all dancers who can commit to the schedule will perform! The audition is to let the choreographers get to know you and determine casting.

A workshop fee of $160 for half-participation and $290 for full-participation applies. Please contact Dance Fremont for scholarship support if cost is a barrier to participation.
